Will we see him back on the field this year? Dislocated ankle seems like a vicious injury to get back from in a season but was curious if anyone has heard anything?

From what I've read, there's a possibility that he's back by ULM.

not sure if I'd want him to suit up even if available. He's getting a medical redshirt, and that game would screw it up for him.

This. At that point, best to save him for next season IMO.

For me, it depends on if he's truly ready to come back and our record.

Same. If we are still in the playoff hunt and they think he can make a significant contribution then he should play. We will need all the LB depth we can get, especially for Auburn

He is? I had heard from someone (who could have been talking out of his arse) that said since he was a transfer and sat out last year, the NCAA would not grant him a year for a medical redshirt. Did I just get royally deceived?

Oh, I'm certainly talking out my arse and I expect that redshirt. So, take it for what it's worth.

players who have already redshirted (which Hilliard did last year) do not qualify for the auto-medical rules like RSJ did. They have to apply and the NCAA reviews it case by case before granting a 6th year. If Hilliard is unable to play again this year, he's a no-brainer though even from the NCAA. He got hurt early in the 2H of the first game of the season. How can you deny that?

I think if he gets medical clearance you have to consider playing him. After sitting out last year, he's probably itching to play and he needs the experience even if we're not necessarily fighting for anything. And if he can play by Nov 1, that means he'll play 6 games (SC, 4 in Nov, and bowl).

Gotcha. I was just checking, because I certainly had no clue how the rules worked

Via Liucci...I don't really know either.

When do you think Hilliard will return? Does he qualify for a medical redshirt?
He doesn't have a redshirt year left. He's got two years left to play after this season regardless. They had originally hoped he'd be back but I'm beginning to wonder because that injury, while not anything that should linger once he's healed up, was pretty significant.
