FSU is defending MNC so I get all their votes. Alabama and Oklahoma getting votes makes sense as well (both beat West Virginia) . My main issue is Oregon getting so much love for so little to show so far. Secondarily TAMU getting 4 votes for playing weak teams at home and beating a South Carolina team that had to fight back to beat Vanderbilt. Granted part of TAMU's weak early schedule may be due to realignment.

Last years Runner Up
Thumped (3-1) Arkansas and the Hogs have road win @ 2-1 Texas Tech and previously undefeated Northern Illinois
Thumped MWC member San Jose State
Beat previously undefeated Kansas State @ Kansas State

As for the other teams getting 1st place votes
Florida State : 70 total votes = 34 in AP + 36 in USA
Squeaked by (2-1) Oklahoma State
Beat a weak FCS school
Squeaked by (1-2) Clempson in OT

Alabama : 17 total votes = 6 in AP + 11 in USA
Unimpressive win against a (2-2) West Virginia team
Shutout (1-3) Florida Atlantic
Beat (2-2) Southern Mississippi
Beat (2-1) Gator team that failed to score in the second half

Oklahoma : 16 total votes = 4 in AP + 12 in USA
Beat (2-2) La Tech
Beat (1-2) Tulsa
Beat bottom SEC team (2-1) Tennessee @ Norman
Beat (2-2) West Virginia

Oregon : 15 total votes = 12 in AP + 3 in USA
Beat (2-2) FCS school South Dakota @ home
Beat (2-1) Michigan State @ home
Beat (3-1) Wyoming @ home
Squeaked by (1-3) Washington State 38-31

Texas A&M : 4 total votes = 4 in AP + 0 in USA
Beat Cocks on the road
Beat FCS school @ home
Beat Rice @ home
Beat SMU

On a side note, props to South Carolina who has already played 3 conference games and beat ECU who just trashed North Carolina. This may be the toughest schedule in all of FBS football so far this season.

They did not look like the #1 team in the country on Thursday.

Voters don't vote on luck.

Would you give #1 votes to Auburn after that abortion of a Thursday night performance? That would be a......

Who has looked like the number one team, if Auburn hasn't? FSU is hot garbage, Bama has looked unimpressive, Oregon and Oklahoma looked bad last night

Maybe A&M is deserving of some number ones but Auburn has looked as good/bad as any others in the top 10

Seriously? How many folks go to play @ Kansas State and look good? You have to respect what Synder has done and continues to do while coaching there. If Spurrier is impressive with what he has achieved at South Carolina, Snyder looks damn near mythical for what he has done at Kansas State.

I think the biggest difference between Auburn and the other teams is how they have looked on a national stage. A&M looked great against South Carolina, Oregon looked good in the second half against Michigan State, and Auburn looked mediocre against a K State team that made a lot of mistakes. Unfortunately for Auburn, the voters don't look at the Oregon-Washington St. game that same way because it takes place after most of them are asleep and they just wake up and see that Oregon won. The biggest thing about this year so far is that no one, other than A&M really, has looked dominant. I think people have a hard time picking who they think is the number one team so you just go with who you originally selected (not that you should.)

Florida did score in the second half. If that somehow proves your point any better.

None of it really matters. The only way that Auburn will get in the final is to win the SEC. If there was a second team to get in from the SEC, it would never be us. Alabama or Georgia possibly could get in and may be TAM right now but we would not get that vote.

So in the end, it wont matter where we are ranked from now until the second week of December.

We win the SEC, we are in. We dont, we are headed to another bowl game somewhere else.

So in the end, it matters not.

They have arguably the best win in the country to date.

#1 votes don't mean a damn thing right now. If we keep winning, we'll start to get them. If we don't, we won't.

And going to K St and winning on a Thurs night, no matter how you do it, is a good win. Thurs night home dogs are some of the most dangerous teams to play, especially a Bill Snyder home dog.

Auburn has played 3 games. The most recent of which was a Thursday night showcase in which they looked far from the #1 team in the country.

So early in the 2nd it felt like it was still the first. The rest of the 2nd just had Bama grinding it out. You are correct tho, Gators did put up 7 early.

Who cares. We'll still win the west and the SEC championship. I could care less what our ranking is right now.

Basically, we have to earn it every year.

That's fine.

But how was OU's win impressive? Bama won by 10 despite a -2 turnover margin; OU won by 12 with a +1 margin.

Do you remember all that bullshite after week 1 about how WVU "should have beat Bama"? How they "dropped a lot of passes" and shite? Well, multiply that times about ten for KSU's missed opportunities, because they legitimately should have beaten Auburn last Thursday.
