A&M up 31-3, second Q against SMU. SMU attempts onside kick, A&M recovers and Hill hits Reynolds on a 70 yd. bomb on the next play. Announcers absolutely destroy A&M for running that play -- even though they had just defended a trick play one play before.

State up 34-16, fourth Q against LSU, and essentially runs four consecutive plays into the pile inside the LSU 5. Looked an awful lot like they were trying to avoid running up the score. Nearly comes back to bite them in the arse.

For all of the time, effort, money, and stress that goes into recruiting players, training them, and playing these football games, why are there still these false pretenses when it comes to this illusion of "sportsmanship?" I mean, a university can invest so much money in their facilities, recruiting processes and overall visibility that they are causing smaller schools to consider abandoning the sport altogether. Don't understand why this "win-at-all-costs" attitude can exist everywhere but on the actual playing field.

Alabama ran 4 dives from the 10 yard line late in the game against Florida too.

Some people kick a man when he's down.

Others don't.

IDGAF either way as long as we win.

FWIW I agreed with MSU going for it at the goal line. Their defense was playing lights out, and at worst LSU was going to have to drive 95+ yards for a TD. A TD there would have been the kill shot. Hindsight is always 20/20, but at that time no one thought LSU was going to come back.

My biggest issue was with replacing the starting center. Why take Day out if you are leaving Prescott in? And why did Day take his braces off? Was he told to or did he do that on his own?

Sumlin will always run up the score because he is a piece of shite and all A&M fans care about is being the #1 ranked offense.

I'm all for playing a full 60 minutes with your best....not intentionally running up the score necessarily but I've watched too many games where a team gets comfortable and takes out their starters, starts playing prevent D, etc. and loses momentum. Then when they need to start playing again when a team makes a comeback they can't get that momentum back. The LSU game last night was a perfect example

IMO there is an element of sportsmanship, but it only comes very, very late in the game when there is a huge lead (like over 21). Level of opponent also has something to do with it.

If you are up by 40 w/ two minutes left and you are trying to score, that is kind of a jerk move, but if the lead is about 24 or less and there is more than five minutes, you should not be criticized for trying to score.

A&M also threw the ball on 4th down for a TD against Lamar when up 59-3 in the 4th with 5 minutes left. They then ran for a TD with a minute left when they got the ball back.

Aggies like to pump up their stats so that three wins against Lamar, SMU, and Rice look amazing on paper.

When you have a defense like A&M's, I don't know why you wouldn't go lights out every offensive possession.

Les Miles was throwing for the end zone on us last year in Starkville up 30 damn points in the 4th quarter. If I was Mullen these Dawgs would have ate till the last second ticked off the clock. State could have hung 60 on LSU last night.

We put in our 2nd string OL when we were in the red zone. I was so confused by that because I know how LSU has a history of pulling out games.

... with third, fourth, & fifth stringers.
No shame in that.
There comes a point when you try so hard not to score, it's belittling to the opponent.
One of the many reasons that playing some of these teams isn't ideal.

4 minutes left, it was a 41 yard run with the third string QB, a walkon white RB, and an O-line with one scholarship player on it.

10 minute+ drive to end the South Carolina game up 24, took a mercy knee at their 3 yard line.

You are fricking nuts.

Against Lamar and SMU A&M played 2nd and 3rd string players the entire second halves.

If a team can't stop a 4th string white running back named fricking Bryce then that's on them, not Sumlin.

on top of that it was a 3 yard curl route that turned into a long TD b/c the Lamar kid completely whiffed on the tackle. It's not like that play was designed to score. It was run specifically to get Allen reps in a short yardage situation.

I would say he is 5th string at best considering he is behind Trey Williams, Brandon Williams, Tra Carson, and James White on the depth chart.

Saban put in Coker with about 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. We didn't throw another pass the rest of the game. Wasted a great chance for experience.

That's the thing about unwritten rules, they're not written down. If you were raised right you know the difference between SMU and LSU and you act accordingly.

So Sumlin is supposed to tell our 3rd string they aren't allowed to try?

The Gonzales TD was supposed to get the first down and keep the clock moving. Of course he didn't know when he would see the ball again so he sprinted for the endzone.
