or do you feel Gus can find a way to get them involved,

If everything you hear about Barber is true, and watching only a couple of runs it appears it could be, will he be patient and wait. Plus we have Roc, Jovon is coming next year along with KJ.

Do we lose any or do they stay? Is this we rumors started about Jovon flipping? Which flipping to Bama doesn't make much sense because they are stacked at RB as well.

I honestly do not know, but seeing that Gus sticks with what works, and Grant and CAP look like they will work. I don't see a lot of touches for Barber and Roc this year.

Barber looks like a pent up beast foaming at the mouth to be unleashed to me, and I really want to see what he can do if given the chance. Roc I am less concerned with at this moment. Plus we have Pettway.

CAP and Grant will be gone after this year.

I think the guys on the roster stay around. I could see Jovon flipping, but not to Bama. Just seems dumb.

I understand that. Next year you will have three ready to play and wanting touches.

ROC, Jovon and Barber. Pettway may end up at FB, if scuttle we hear is true, so I am not worried about him.

How do you get enough touches to the three big time RB's?

With cap and grant as seniors, it will be Barber, Robinson, and Roc at RB next year. At least this is the way I hope it plays out. I don't think Gus wants to lose either of those RBs mentioned. Pettway is my bet to transfer, unless he assumes a FB role. All MO.

I agree, if I am Jovon Bama is the last place I am flipping too.

I really hope we do whatever it takes to keep Barber. I believe he and Roc have higher ceilings than CAP or Grant. I like CAP, but I think PB is going to be better.

On that note, Eric Swinney is going to turn out to be one of the best RB's Ole Miss has ever had.

I have the same feeling. I know there isn't much to go on, but seeing a few of his runs now he runs angry to me. Like he is going to hurt someone...

Got to remember barber is an RS Frosh and Roc is a true Frosh. Cap and grant seniors, with jovon coming in next year as a junior. I think Gus wi play the hot hand. It's still early in the season.

Jovon will probably only be here one year. No reason for anyone to leave.

I think Roc ends up resdshirted this year. He is small and we have the depth already to tote us this year. I know a lot of you don't agree with that and it is fine.

I never understood us going for Jovon. I wish we could have kept him in the first place but we lost him. With him coming back, it creates a log jam next year with several guys that can ball. A JUCO back isn't really what we need even though he is a good kid from everything I can see and really wants to be at Auburn. If he flips to someone other than Bama, I will wish him luck. If he goes to Bama, he is just joining in as big a clusterfrick there.

As far as Barber goes, I think he is our every down guy for the long run and we need to keep the kid. Roc will get 10 to 15 touches a game but Barber will be our 20 touch guy.

I do remember all you are saying. My concern really is with Barber. I realize he is RSF, but is he the type that feels like he should be playing and gets impatient or bide his time?

Agree it is still early and things can change in this offense.

Next year you will have a pretty aggressive runner like Jovon as well. I think Barber and Jovon look to be similar in their running style.

I appreciate everyones input. Just something I got thinking about this morning and was curious what everyone else thinks. I really don't know either way, I just know I want them all at Auburn getting 200-300 carries each...

You are kind of thinking along the same lines as I am, but I am greedy and getting Jovon again is fine with me...

Yea I greedy, I want Jovon in O&B. This discussion is already making me upset. I don't want to lose any of the RBs. I hate thinking this is a possibility. I have to believe Gus is smart and will play the best at the time.

Side note: LSU was able to do RB committee with several talented backs. But usually the hot hand plays the most. To me that is going to be between CAP and Barber this year. Grant is a 10-15 carry a game guy while the bruiser will get at least 20.

Racean Thomas and Jovon Robinson will likely be our two, starting running backs next year. Peyton Barber could provide depth, and Kerryon Johnson would need to redshirt. I think Stanton Truitt would likely take over the speed sweep role unless Kerryon Johnson was able to adjust to it.

I don't think so.

1. RB is a prime position for injury. Need 3 to 5 ready to play. Remember losing Brown and Williams in 2002 and Smith starting Iron Bowl?
2. Every down backs need a blow so there will be a split in carries of say 25-15.
3. If productive, a RB will leave for NFL 3 yr after HS

This could be the most likely scenario next year and why I brought the question. Do you really think Barber will play a depth role another year if he is as good as everyone says he is?

I was sort of joking. but seriously tho, id hate to lose any of them. We are stacked and have superstar RB recruits committed and I'm very happy about it. It must be talked ab tho when you have this kind of back field.
