Is it surprising that Jonathan Walton has gotten the start Thursday against A&M?

Well he wasn't highly regarded out of high school and a bit undersized at 6'0 and beat out a junior I believe

No - we're loaded at LB so it's plug and play there.

Earlier in camp the reports said Walton was threatening for the starting job anyway.

If your so loaded then he should flip over to running back . Sounds crazy but he was the best back In Alabama that year at 230. And legit ran a high 4.4 speed in laser at Penn St

Probably the only area of the depth chart that is deeper than LB.

As has been mentioned, Walton had been hinted at being a strong performer during camp. I believe he's starting over Moore, who DC Ward got onto over missing some appointments with the trainers.

Regardless, installing a 3-4 package obviously allows for more linebackers on the field at a time. This is relatively uncharted territory for Carolina, as LBs have never before been a serious strength under Spurrier.
