The thing about homeschooled kids is their people skills are normal and awesome

Incredibly social and normal kid goes on the national news after winning the national spelling bee to show off his absolutely normal people skills while not making this news anchor fight for her entire career by not telling him he's going to live a full life of pain and loneliness.
Link is ebaums as shite.

Tbird, you're the homeschooled social butterfly.

Homeschool kids I know are very social and incredibly smart. Nothing unusual at all about them.

I don't think there's much of a need for popcorn here, Tbird. You may be the only home schooled person that posts on this particular board.

I just wanted to grab a front row seat to watch the comments roll in
Every homeschooled friend I know was laughing their arse off at that kid, too, for the record

Tbird, do you believe you are the poster child for homeschooled kids, or the exception?

In the unforunate event that I ever have children, they will be homeschooled until 13 or 14, at which point they are heading to boarding school so I can smoke again.

Lemme put it this way: the normal homeschoolers like my folks outnumber the weird fricking home school dorks, but the weirdos get all the attention and give the rest of us a bad name
It's funny, though, if a weirdo was public schooled folks just say they're antisocial, but if they were homeschooled they blame the school environment all of a sudden.
There are just weird motherfrickers out there. And they'd be weird regardless of how they received their education, IMO.

Do homeschool kids have something that replaces homecoming and prom? Like do they get together with other homeschoolers in the area or something, this is a semi serious question

A friend of mine that was homeschooled did so through a co-op type deal and they did a prom with other home school kids.
We had a girl I played soccer with that was homeschooled. She participated in our extra-curricular activities and graduation.

I think there may be a difference between homeschooling in other parts of the country and homeschooling here in the Bible Belt, where it essentially takes on more of a bible school type of feel so as to protect against secular teachings without a focus on God.

Depends on the area, tbh.
The last homeschool group I was in before A&M had a prom, but I didn't go mainly because my family had just moved there a few months before and I didn't know anyone really well.
My younger siblings are involved in homeschool sports leagues and shite.

We played a home school team in basketball and baseball in junior high once. They were actually really good in bball, almost beat us. The kids fit the awkward stereotype to a T though. I know Tebow was homeschooled too and there was a lot of controversy over him playing football for whatever local HS team it was

If I had to do it all over again, my kids would have been home schooled. The shite they are teaching and the things that are going on are incredible. More troublesome is the lack of control or willingness to address problems. State employees at the end of the day......
