I think there may be a difference between homeschooling in other parts of the country and homeschooling here in the Bible Belt, where it essentially takes on more of a bible school type of feel so as to protect against secular teachings without a focus on God.

I was a military brat. My folks homeschooled all over the country (many times in the Bible belt). Trust me, I know the full gamut if reasons folks do it

Homeschooling makes a ton of sense in your case if you're gonna be moving a lot. It's definitely not good for kids to be the new kid at a new school every couple years

We played a home school team in basketball and baseball in junior high once. They were actually really good in bball, almost beat us.

The homeschool group I was in in San Antonio was good enough in basketball that many of the local public schools quit wanting to schedule us

This was my little brother in a homeschool 6 man football league last fall (Brazos Valley). He's number 7:

I'm planning on still owning and operating a farm, so I could use the free labor. They'll learn a lot

It would be Consol, but he really likes playing with the team he's on.

Grades are gonna get him into A&M or wherever he wants to go and he'll probably just walk on like my other brother did.

Video was awesome.

I don't know why they would interview the kid without his parents. Most speller champeens aren't exactly social butterflies, homeschooled or otherwise. Throw in the fact he's like 12 or whatever and I'm not sure what they thought they were gonna get.

But, he suits the stereotype to a T.

Care to share that with a fellow homeschool graduate, TBird?

I feel bad that this kid will have that video following him around the rest of his life. Being "that homeschooled kid" can be tough enough as is.

We were pretty close to homeschooling our kids. Decided on a small Christian school instead.

I used to joke with my wife that if we homeschooled our kids, what would she do once they got to the 5th grade. She never laughed.

I was homeschooled as well, K-12.

There are more than you think.
