Should bicyclists have to pay some sort of tax to bike on roadways?

Like buying a tag for their bike?

I vote 'yes'. What say you?

No, they should just not be allowed on the road. Period.

Upvote.

I think bicyclists should have to give cars at least three feet of space.

I agree. Get them off the road. They are a danger in Atlanta. They do not obey road laws and travel in packs of 20, dominating the road and backing up traffic, especially on the many two lane roads where they can't be passed. They never stop at stop signs.

Paying a tax won't keep me from getting run over by a texter, which seems to be the biggest threat now. I'd have no objection to a tax, and any bike rider who does just doesn't get it, in my opinion. The "get the bikes off the road" schmoes can screw themselves. If bike riders are breaking the law, give'em a ticket. Simple.

I've never once seen a pic of Obama on a bicycle. On the other hand, GW was famous for riding bikes.

Reload? Try again? C'mon. Gimme a better effort.

A tax for a bicycle? I say definitely no.

I understand that some cyclists ride like douches but I always use hand signals, stop, etc.

Why not?

I never thought of that, but that's a damn good idea. Half these bikers have a death wish imo.

Welcome to the internet. These pictures have been around for like 6 years.

I would like it be known that I have no opinion on anything said in this thread. Good day.

Only partially in jest, this is the price you pay for the very poor judgement that led you to live in a large city. I don't blame you for disliking cyclists in Baton Rouge (or New Orleans or Jackson or Dallas or Houston). They're clearly insane. (I know cyclists in all of those locations, so I have some experience with their insanity.) But they're basically you, on a bike. Always in a hurry and thinking... no, knowing... that their time is more important than anybody else's. Because that's how city slickers roll. I honestly don't understand why all of you sardines don't kill each other *right now*. It boggles my mind.

To me, texting is going to kill off bike-riding on open roads, eventually. I don't see a way to fix it. Sure you can give somebody a ticket after they've killed somebody, but that doesn't really solve anything.

You'll love this... in Jacksonville a portion of our local gas tax pays for more cycling lanes. fricking irony

Wow. I didn't think it was possible to think less of the guy. But you did it for me. Really nice fender to keep his butt from getting sprayed by a puddle on the sidewalk. I just... urggghh.
