If Florida Fans Are So Fickle, Why Is The Swamp So Loud?

Is it the dimensions? Huge student section? The Swamp is the loudest stadium in the entire country as long as the sun is in the sky. It can't just be because their stadium holds noise in so well, right?
Not a shot at UF fans, but you are certainly the least passionate of the Big 6. But maybe I'm wrong

31-30, is that what you're looking for.

I can't remember the last time Florida packed out their stadium.

i can't remember ever being at a game where they were the visiting team and thinking there were a lot of their fans there, and i went to quite a few UT/UF games when the rivalry was still huge. in my experience, they don't travel well at all

Just because we don't have as many people on this board doesn't make us less passionate. To be honest Florida has a coach right now who has tried to impose a form of football that the fanbase largely hated and that sapped all the fun out of the game.
In what way is Florida less passionate than say UGA or UT?

Stadium makes it loud. Also, no Tebow.

Muschamp, the answer is Muschamp- he has sapped a ton of the life out of the fanbase with his stultifying approach to Football-- its no coincidence that Florida sold out for more than two decades in a row and then broke that streak with Muschamp.
Of course Florida still has a more energetic fanbase than Ole Miss, but that's really not fair as Florida fans come to watch football whereas Ole Miss supporters come primarily for the pregame social in the Grove.

UF had a sellout streak that began in 1979 and just ended, 3rd longest in the country and longest in the SEC. Think it is safe to say we are pretty passionate.

I don't know what UF games you have gone to, but I don't see much difference, if any at all, between how many fans UF brings and how many visitors travel to the Swamp.

I do think this is a current issue. You are used to going to the Swamp and seeing a ton of offense and points, making the heat and humidity an after thought. Now when you are sitting there for long periods of very little action, it becomes much easier to just stay at home.

Dimensions play a big factor. Look at the Swamp/Tiger Stadium's lower bowl incline and compare it to Bryant Denny for example. Our upper decks are "stacked" therefore the fans are closer to the field.
Also, BDS curves out at the 50 yard line unlike the Swamp or Tiger Stadium

went to every UT/Florida game for about a 10 year stretch and have been to quite a few in Death Valley. Florida fans did not travel well at all. Maybe there's a reason Florida hasn't played an OOC game outside the state of Florida in god knows how long. Y'all couldn't sell your allotment to a BCS bowl just two years ago, and I couldn't care less who you were playing. That's ridiculous.

The old OOC out of state statement
I have been to a ton as well. I can only compare to what other schools bring to the Swamp, and I don't see any real difference between UF and any of the other Big 6.

The whole sport of Football is Fickle in the state of Florida. Have family there and I have never seen anything like it. My cousin literally has apparel of the Big 3 in Florida. He will wear whatever team is winning and he is a FSU grad.

I was born and raised and always attended UF games growing up. And I'll say this about your last statement.
OM fans ARE more passionate and energetic than UF fans.
UF has a larger fan base and a larger stadium because of that. But UF is also a HUGE bandwagon team. When a season has been decided its a loss the fan show up at games and greatly plummets.
During my time at OM even when we sucked the fans were still there and we enjoyed ourselves. And now that we are in our way to better days we have a VERY passionate and energetic fan base.
Oh and also 31-30 and pretty sure OM has a winning record against UF all time

Yankees like college football less than southerners. It's really that simple.

I have been to a ton as well, and unless LSU just doesn't bring a ton to Gainesville, I'm not really seeing where there is a measurable difference.
of course you don't because you're a Florida fan and choose not to notice

Then how did UF maintain the longest sellout streak in the SEC up until a year ago?
