Personally, I think both LSU and Auburn are louder than the swamp.

Then how did UF maintain the longest sellout streak in the SEC up until a year ago?

Shh... don't bring up facts remember we're supposed to judge our fanbase by how they travel during the Muschamp years (its not just wins and losses-- we sold out through the Zook years, its Muschamp's style of play that has turned the fans off).

Also we shouldn't bring up the fact that Florida has played more Top 5, Top 10 and Top 15 OOC teams than any other SEC program over the past 25 years- remember Florida playing FSU OOC is just like LSU playing Tulane or ULM.

I was harassed by a cop today on my way to watch the USMNT at 3:59PM today, because non-decal parking didn't open up until 4.

There as such assholes.

LSU maybe. Auburn no. I don't know how far underground JHS is built, but the dimensions allow too much disbursement of noise to compete with the Swamp.

In 2012 during a DAY game, our crowd was so loud LSU had to burn 2 timeouts in the 2nd half because they couldn't communicate.

Jorts hold the noise in the stadium.

IMO its the stadium design and massive student section that is on the sideline.

The Swamp is def. top 3 loudest along with LSU and Auburn.

The seats are almost right on the field. Loudest I have ever heard a stadium get was when Andre Debose caught that TD from Brantley on the first play of the game against 'Bama. Next would be when LSU blocked the FG to go into OT in '08.

Look at the Swamp/Tiger Stadium's lower bowl incline and compare it to Bryant Denny for example. Our upper decks are "stacked" therefore the fans are closer to the field.

re: LSU loudest stadium per NCAA (Posted on 9/25/13 at 10:16 am to Govt Tide)

From someone who has played in just about every SEC stadium...

TS is by far the loudest (of course I'm biased)

Then it's Jordan Hare and everyone else is not even close.

Most overrated...Neyland, the Swamp (although the Swamp gets honorable mention for the female bikini wearing students who would flash us on the sideline...before they moved the student section)

I did play at aTm, but it was a 11:30 ABC game in Aug when good ole astroturf was still down and my God, it was already 120 at kickoff. We just wanted to get the f&*^ out of there alive, didn't pay much attention to the crowd.

Florida stadium has not been as loud in recent years. I've been going to games there since the early 90s. In the early 90's and the 2000's through Meyer, it was always very loud and a very tough place to play.

It actually got quieter as the Urban Meyer era went along, because there was another guy in charge trying to change the philosophy at UF and that assholes name is Bernie Machen.

His original goal was to make UF a "dry" campus. He worked with the UPD and GPD to really crack down on drinking in that town, and was on some committees that have worked long and hard to curb drinking in general in the city of Gainesville and around campus.

He has changed the rules for tailgating, so that its not even close to as much fun as it used to be, the cops harass fricken everyone, and the cost for everything is three times what it was 10 years ago.

It's made UF's game day atmosphere one of the least attractive in the south, honestly, which is a shame cause it used to be pretty good. Add in the fact that most of the older fans HATE Will Muschamp and his offensive style, and you have a lot of disgruntled fans. The last time I remember the stadium being truly loud was in 2012, during the LSU and USCe games, but even then, it wasn't as loud as it had been in the past.

Still, a tough place to play when the Gators aren't really really bad.

I remember '08 and '09 sec championships and damn did Florida raise hell in the dome. So did Alabama fans but I was really impressed. It's all circumstantial also. Depending on who your playing, the score, and how your season is going. They haven't had a lot to cheer about the last few years but during the tebow years, they were very loud

Or we have other family members that went to UF and Miami which there in lies the problem. With three major universities in the state family members don't always chose the same university to attend. I have seen this a lot in Florida.

When Florida finally plays a legit OOC north of Valdosta, Ga., I'll be interested to see how they travel..

How did they travel two years ago to College Station, Aggies?

I was there. It was a great time.

Not sure how many UF fans were there in totality, but we were pretty loud at times.

Thanks for that info. I now know who's to blame for UF's "Finest" being the hands down worst campus police department it's ever been my dissatisfaction to interact with.

It will be a long time, if ever, before I travel to Gainesville again.
