Thanks man. Curious though, do you really call a deer #x# ? If so it's cool just always thought of that as being out west type stuff. More so with elk or mule deer. Not so much with whitetail. Not being judgemental, just curious.

Damn good deer. Love the mounts without a plaque.

Where I'm from, it's a 10 point. But it is technically a 5x5. I get your point though, usually elk and mule deer are #x#.

ETA: if I killed a genetically flawed "2x8" it'd still be a 10 point dammit

Just sometimes. Just something I picked up from my dad. Especially if it's a typical, almost symmetrical 10 point.

It's my first wall pedestal. All the rest have been mounted on plaques. I was pretty lit when I got this one to the taxidermy (shocking I know) but decided to step out and try something new. I'm glad I did. Looking like I'm gonna get drawn for Iowa this year and gonna go hunt some family farms up there. Hopefully I come back with something bigger but this one is my biggest so far.

Killed my first deer (and only buck) at age 12 and it is mounted on a plaque. Seven point with an 18 inch spread. Now wish it was a wall pedestal.

I've always wanted to go to Illinois or Iowa, just haven't gotten the opportunity yet.

You'd be surprised how much that bitch kicked when she hit the ground. I've shot many deer in the neck that just fold. This is my first true head shot. I only took it because it was the only shot I had and I was confident with my gun. Worked out well but not sure how much more I'll be using that shot placement. Didn't waste any meat though
