Yup. Just south in Ellaville. Always stop in at Barrow Automotive for a few on the way down to the property.

so did you quit hunting? Why?

Nah. Didn't quit. Just haven't been as much as I should. I work a ton of overtime and by the time I get home and have a beer or five, it's time to go to bed and do it again. On the weekends, I'm more pumped about watching Gameday and drinking beer than sitting in the stand. Priorities all wrong I guess.

I've dropped a lot of $$$$ in that place. Ellaville is off 19 correct?

I can dig that, I only get to property by butler two or three times a year. I've got a bunch of family property within 30 min from my house that I hunt more. I only go south when we play a cupcake or in rut. I've got a few buddies that pay my taxes to hunt down there which I'm grateful for.

Yea. Our property was just straight down 19 and then had another entrance off Green road. Now they've down a ton of road work and the highways have been split to go around around the town and then come back together just south of Mt. Zion. shite still confuses me when I go down.

I'm just west of butler, I know I'm a dick on here but from what I hear I pretty decent irl. Hit me up next time you're down. I spend a good bit of time down there in off season but don't get down as much as I'd like in the fall.

I'll let give you a heads up. I don't know next time I'll be that way. Just moved to Dallas, TX a month ago so making trips to the property is a little more expensive

You'd do better just heading south to a nearby ranch. not sure I'd make the trip from Texas to come hunt south ga deer. The dad makes the difference though. Get all the time with him you can now.

I hear ya. Thinking about surprising him and coming down all of thanksgiving week to hunt the rut.

IMHO thanksgiving is not your primary rut. I killed 10 this yr on November 13th. I took 5 days off from work and killed him the last evening I had off.

I spent some time in Butler and some up north. The rut was definitely on in both places.

Thanksgiving is typically in between the first and second rut down there. I've seen double digit deer in one hunt during the first week of December. But never during Thanksgiving week. Typically it's second week in November and
first week in December for first and second rut.

Just my opinion tho

Nice buck, Spunk.

What time of year did you get him? And time of day if you don't mind me asking? Just curious. The bucks weren't chasing like normal last year and was just wondering when people were having luck. Although I know it differs region to region.

You'd be surprised how much that bitch kicked when she hit the ground. I've shot many deer in the neck that just fold. This is my first true head shot. I only took it because it was the only shot I had and I was confident with my gun. Worked out well but not sure how much more I'll be using that shot placement. Didn't waste any meat though

Hopefully it's your last 'true' head shot.

What did you shoot that with? I know you guys up North have to shoot a heavier load, but that was overkill. I shoot a 130 grain now, but know many people who get by just fine on 80.
