As with every Coaching Search Finale Day I woke up to my little one shaking me out of bed this morning.
DADDY, DADDY, today we get to figure out who will lead our basketball program into more disparaging times in the future!
"I know little Demarre Carroll," I replied.
**disclaimer my son is 5 months and unable to converse in this manner yet, but if he were I am sure this is what would have happened. Also, I'm at work overnight and therefore unable to be woken.

Kilgore ?@Kilgore_n_KC 33s
Today will be Marshall day! My source stated buyout was worked out late last night. Just waiting for him to talk to his team and the BOC...
Awesome!

Wish we could put countdown clocks on the team boards. Got what? About 5 hours until meltaggedon?

Seems right, they said BOC meeting at 1 p.m. more than likely no conference after that, but possible leaks with the newly approved coach informing his current school if that's the case.

I really do think it is Marshall.

Please at least be realistic. Kilgore is pretty much the only one claiming it is him. We don't need a meltdown on this board if it's not. Having said that i hope the Marshall plan is in action.

If it isn't Marshall it is Howland if we haven't heard of another coach scheduling a team meeting somewhere.

Looking at everything, logic would say it is Marshall at this point.

You disagree?
I doth, while it may be Marshall, I don't understand how any logic could be pointing to him.

A few reasons:
1) coaching candidates that like to keep things quiet do so because they must work for their current school until they don't. They have to keep recruiting and can't take a risk of a rumor about them leaving. It kills them recruiting if they stay. Howland has no such risk associated with him.
2) Marshall has publicly turned down previous jobs. He refused to this time.
3) Marshall's agent first said they would love to hear what Mizzou had to say. Less than a week later, his agent turned an about face and would not discuss any open jobs.
4) Marshall has yet to fill out his staff. Apparently he has been too busy doing other things than to hire crucial assistant coaches. Quite odd considering he is on the recruiting trail lately.
5) Howland has nothing to risk. He has no need for secrecy or quiet. It would cost him nothing. there would be no need to drag this out.
6) Alden called up the big boosters raising money. There is 2 reasons to do this 1. pay a buyout, 2. pay a huge salary. Howland would require neither.
I'm sure I can come up with more if you wish.

It's going to be Howland
Would explain why it's been so quiet.
Missouri has had egg on it's face lately with off the field incidents. Howland is known for this as well. If Alden decided he wanted him, waiting for the BOC to approve a questionable hire would have to happen.
They do not want another Painter situation and if the BOC decides they can't go with Howland that would be exactly how it goes down. He's our next coach, oh wait, no he's not.
Couple that with Gant retweeting stuff about Howland yesterday.
(Can't tell me they haven't hinted at who would be the next coach to Gant hoping to keep him on the Missouri bandwagon)

You can keep posting that but it will still not make sense. Keep going with it though.
Howland makes sense because he'd be a great hire. Your defense of the process doesn't pass even the most rudimentary of logic tests.
