What city / pro teams do A&M fans generally follow?

Assuming a lot of A&M's students and alum come from all over Texas I was just wondering how the pro team loyalties divide up? Is it generally towards Houston's teams? Dallas' teams? Are the students a mixed bag of both? Does anyone prefer a Houston team in one sport but a Dallas team in another sport?
Personally, I do like the NFL and keep up with other pro sports, but none come close to drawing my attention and care like Gamecock sports. With that said I do like the Panthers, I do like the Ravens, but if the Texans draft Clowney that would put 3 Gamecock starters on their defense plus their own is also a Gamecock alum.

It's a mixed bag for sure. Houston is the most prominent locale where kids are from but there are a lot of DFW SA and Austin kids. Houston and DFW kids support their cities teams pretty much. Austin and SA kids mostly root for the Spurs, Cowboys and whichever baseball team is good at the moment (obviously the Rangers right now).
All the other outlying areas in East and West TX are kind of a mixed bag but it's mostly proximity.

We're similar in that we're much more into college football than the NFL. But, we definitely break down into roughly equal camps of Cowboys fans and Texans fans. The STATE is not equal in terms of its NFL loyalties. Statewide, it's probably a 70/30 split in favor of the Cowboys, but A&M's student and alumni population is disproportionally Houstonian, since the 'Tine is only an hour away.
As far as the NBA goes, don't forget about the Spurs. Spurs fandom is pretty broad in Texas. I personally loathe all things San Antonio, including Los Spurs, but I'll readily admit that they've been a dominant force for an extremely long time and that Popovich may be simultaneously the greatest and most boring living coach in any sport.
Myself, I'm a Texan/Astros/Rockets fan. As an adult I live in Austin, but I grew up in Houston, and I have a lot of civic pride in Houston. I hope to GOD we don't draft that lazy POS Clowney, but think there's a good chance we do. The Texans can't do anything right.

You know someone brought up the other day the Texans were in a similar position in 2006. They had a choice between Mario Williams, Vince Young, or Reggie Bush.
There was Williams the DE who was also accused of not giving 100% 100% of the time (like can be said about damn near anyone). Sound familiar?
There was Vince Young the QB who was the local TX kid that might bring jersey sales up. Sound familiar?
And there was Reggie Bush.
Now think of the careers of those 3 and tell me Houston didn't make the right decision? I think they did. And they would be doing the same if they made a similar decision this year.

The Cowboys own Texas minus metro Houston. Even there, they were carried by a 100K watt FM station in the years between the Oilers and Texans.
They made an incredible marketing decision in their early days giving away their radio rights from New Mexico out to California and into Mexico. Over the 60s and 70s, the built up a huge fan base across the Southwest. For years after the Cardinals moved to Phoenix, their only sellout would be once a year for the Cowboys, and there would be 40k Cowboy fans there. I'm a Saints fan, but I give credit where it's due.
The Rockets won NBA titles both of my senior years at A&M, and I grew up in Beaumont, so they were my local team. Cable and satellite viewers in Texas have always gotten the Astros and Ranger games, but only one of the three NBA teams. People in SE Texas tend to be Rockets fans, North Texas belongs to the Mavericks, and South Texas to the Spurs. The Spurs fans are far more passionate than Rockets or Mavs fans though. That city *loves* "Los Spurs."
The Astros have always had a solid following in the southern half of Texas, West Texas, and across Louisiana. In the days before MLB divided the country into markets, the Astros TV network reached as far east as Pensacola, FL. As late as June 1990, I watched Astro games there.
Since their 2005 World Series appearance, they have done everything that they could to alienate their fans. It actually started after the 2004 playoffs when owner Drayton McLane ran off GM Gerry Hunsicker because he was receiving too much credit for the teams success (look at what happened in Tampa after Hunsicker arrived there). By 2008 they were a sub .500 team with a payroll over $100 million. Most recently, they upped and left the NL after 60 years and went to the (always been irrelevant in Houston) AL. Oh, and they moved to a channel last season that no one gets, so their games aren't even carried in most of Texas.
The Rangers on the other hand have come up from the basement and taken over as the more popular Texas team. I never thought that I would see the day. Again, I give credit where it's due, but a lot goes to the Astros front office for their complete ineptitude.

More Houstonians than any other city goto A&M so id say the Rockets, Texans, and Astros have the most fans. However like all sports teams it's all about winning. I'm sure the Rockets and Spurs are more popular than the Mavs. The Rangers over the Astros.

Vince Young is a mentally handicapped person and Reggie Bush wasn't even the starting running back at USC. That's a choice between a literal moron in the scientific sense, a scat-back, and a an awesome DE with some work ethic question marks.
I don't think their choice this year is as stark. I also disagree that Clowney's problem was just simply not giving 100%, 100% of the time. I watched him in wide screen HD just not give a shite at all for entire games. 0%, 100% of the time. Guy brought shame to the game.

Manziel isn't retarded. He can actually learn an NFL play book. Bad comparison.

I was in school in '11 when the Mavs won the title. Campus was fricking awful. Everywhere you looked you saw a damn Mavericks shirt.
Same about the Rangers. It is unbearable

Dallas has the Cowboys, America's Team. It's an undisputed fact that the Cowboys are the team of Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. The Texans have gained momentum, but they'll never steal the hearts and minds of the Lone Star State unless they start winning lots and lots of championships.
Everything else is fairly regional.
San Antonio/Austin - Rangers/Cowboys/Spurs
DFW/East Texas - Rangers/Cowboys/Mavs
Houston - Astros/Texans/Rockets/Dallas envy in all things.

So we are better at sports than Houston. FWIW, when the Mavs won it all, I wore my Western Conference Champs shirt. As a person whose family was all Sooners, it was so much fun beating them(and quite honestly thought we had no chance to beat the Heat so I was all bout that).

There are more Cowboys fans. Houston kids probably account for 35-40% of the campus. Everyone else is a decent human being, so they root for the Cowboys.
