This time last year...and why they didn't or what happened
this should be fun
My 3 are
- Tyler Luatua - TE from Cali, already have his big bro on the team and he was by all accounts a beast TE, fast forward one year and staff sort of grew cold on him after a disappointing Sr year - ended up at ND where his skill set will serve him better in their spread type O.
- Jordan Sims -I was extremely high on Sims at the jump of last yr's class but Bama always seemed to pursue guys they thought were higher on the board than Sims and kept him on the cusp of an offer. The Homewood HS product ultimately ended up at rival SEC school Ole Miss and I can only hope both in-state schools don't regret not paying him more attention like both likely do with the last Homewood HS product Nebraska's phenomenal RB Ameer Abdullah
- Lorenzo "Zo" Carter - At this point last year Zo really seemed like Bama's answer to getting an edge rusher that was staff's top need beside secondary. Da'Shawn Hand seemed like a long shot and all but locked to a northern school like Va Tech or Michigan, and Rashaan Evans was relatively unknown and seemed like a virtual AU lock. Carter was the key to this void it looked like and his interest with UGA seemed like it was faint at best, seemed more interested in Bama or AU. Fast forward and you have to credit UGA's staff for fighting an uphill battle for much of his recruitment then rounding around the home stretch strong to reel him in.

Nick Glass sticks out. He fell off hugely his SR year. Is at a JUCO now.

Derrell Scott was all but guaranteed
Nevermind, I'm not a South Carolina fan

The only one I would add to yours is Roc Thomas. I was sure that we were going to offer early, and he would commit early. Unfortunately we slow-played the frick out of him, so he committed to AU. It was too late when we tried to get back in it in January of this year.

As an Auburn man I decline to name a specific recruit at this time, enough time has yet to pass.

Not really. He seemed like he wanted to go anywhere but Auburn until we didn't suck.

Im surprised you didn't put Leonard Fournette in the OP

We landed pretty much everyone we expected to tbh. First time I can remember that happening.

Leonard Fournette. It just didn't work out

Dontavius Russell, never saw the season unfolding the way it did in a million years.

Why? I didn't think at this time last yr that Bama would land him?

This time last year most UGA fans weren't even thinking about the '14 class because they were currently still melting over Tunsil.
But, I'd say Nick Glass and DJ Smith come to mind. At this point most people thought DJ Smith would be a priority for our coaches but contact between both was spotty. Nick Glass screwed the proverbial pooch with a string of several very, very bad decisions and every school pulled their offers.
