So Next Year is the Big Year

I keep having a feeling like next year is a big year for us:
-It is Sumlin's third year, and those are traditionally big for us with coaches.
-Thanks to a stadium configuration we should set SEC and state attendance records that will last for decades.
-We are pursuing a crazy talented recruiting class.
-Hopefully a new young core of the team will jel and build a foundation for the future, ala 2010 with our oline.
Yet despite all this expectations will be moderate and buzz will be reduced compared to last season. Crazy times.

It will be a big year. Tempering my expectations on that whole winning thing, but it will be fun to watch.

My expectations aren't too high, but lately we have surprised when they are low. See 2012 and the second half of 2010.
I think we have a ton of talent on the roster, though most of it is very young, and because of that I'm cautiously optimistic

I also don't have high expectations, but we cannot completely shite the bed next year. Is 8-4 the minimum in terms of continuing our recruiting momentum?

It depends on how others do. I think anything south of 7 wins is a disaster in any situation, but 8 works if Texas has 6 or less and no Big 12 team (other than maybe a KSU or WVU) makes the playoffs.

How does the offense look without Manziel and Evans? You have to believe the defense will improve some. Does RSJ turn into the playmaker coming back from injury?

its still going to be one of the best in the conference. our offensive line will be great again, we may not have one elite receiver to go to but they will be much deeper, we will be getting tre Williams back....really the only question on the offense is who gets the start at QB and how they handle it
as with this year, we just need a mediocre to bad defense to succeed. it cant be shite like it was last year

I think you will see a much more balanced attack. I hope we utilize our run game much more than last year. I also hope that if that silly arse rule change passes that we snap the ball every time the play clock hits 29 and show people what warp speed really is.

and plus, we have a new play caller who hopefully doesn't abandon the run like McKinney would do

I hope we do this anyway just to make a point.
I'm petty like that

the only way this board would break harder is if we had manziel do that and he cashed out after every play

I could easily se us going 7-5 next year. In fact, until I see our QB and defensive play I'm saying 8-4 is our peak.

I feel that '15 will be the year we make some noise.
Next year we're gonna have to find our feet a little, IMO.
We're gonna jump up and win one we shouldn't, though.

I think we need to go 9-4 at least to maintain momentum. And be competitive in all the games.

I agree with you on this.

This. I expect we will be inconsistent. We'll lose a game we probably shouldn't and win one we probably should.
But I do think we could go about 8-4 with Joeckel at the helm. But unless the other two fall on their faces, that won't happen. Chances are good our QB will be rough and brilliant both.

the real question for next year is who the frick takes over ben malenas roll as the cash out king? tra carson?
eta: role, not roll
eta: role, not roll
