We were one batted-down ball away from whipping this year's SEC Champs at their place.

Everyone's coming back except our QB who has been in the program for four years and got some quality playing time in at the end of the season.

Our defensive and special teams coaching just got an upgrade (can't be worse) and we recruited well.

Pre-season #8 sounds about right to me.

Even when Georgia is under the radar they're not under the radar. Dammit.

8 is high but we do have a gurleysaurus rex

Truth. To balance that out, though, we should be healthier and our defense stronger.

AM will be missed, though. Mason just needs to David Green it. Nothing spectacular, just don't turn the fricker over. Please.

Yea.... If we ever get 1st I want them to call us "unknown". UGA has an uncanny ability to blow it.

As the only negadawg here yet I just have to say that Georgia whipped their candy asses for only 1 quarter out of 4. For the first 3 both the offense, defense, and STs were absolutely pathetic. Out played, out coached, out manned and without a super-human performance by Murray and Auburn's complacency in the 4th Georgia leaves Auburn with a double digit arse whooping.

The ONLY positives I take from that game was Bobo's adjusting to the quick passing game and nullifying the rush/our typically poor OL play and Murray's heart. The rest of that game was a disaster and not a whipping. Had Georgia played to their potential, which rarely happened if ever happened last year, Georgia wouldn't have had to worry about shite luck losing the game.

That is one way to look at it. Honestly I'm amazed that Auburn went all the way to the NC game with that 102 ranked pass defense. I just thought ours was bad at 54th.

All true. Heck, it was one of the few games I've watched that I actually gave up on and went outside to grill. Glad I kept checking in on it.

Don't forget, though, we did that with a decimated WR corps and RB corps. And with a brand new, very young defense that was being coached to fail.

And we still were just one batted-down ball away from beating them at their place.

Murray was the reason we came back in that game, but a lot of the reason we fell behind in the first place should be gone, so ....

I agree about Auburn game. However, I do think we played about as good as we were capable against USCe and LSU.

I was there and while all the pissy dawg fans around me left (pissy cause I kept mocking Richt and Grantham but I always do that) we all stayed around drinking out flask saying "THIS IS ALL A PART OF GRANTHAM'S PLAN, BOY! GONNA LULL THEM TO SLEEP" and I'll be damned if that isn't exactly what happened.

We had Bennett and Conley back by then I believe and we had Gurley but the problem was the OL. They were completely dominated. We couldn't even START the running game let alone set it up. That's why I admired what Bobo did. He saw the giant turd the OL, OTs in particular, were laying as per usual and he adjusted to the short passing game that devastated AU. Ask any sane AU fan and they agreed that was the only reason our offense sparked back to life and Murray threw it masterfully

The defense? frick Grantham, that's all I have

Not doubting that at all and it'll forever haunt me like seeing Conley catch the ball right in front of my seat in 2012. I just didn't like the phrasing "whipping" cause Georgia was essentially routed for 3 quarters and I don't want to give Georgia more credit than they deserve that day

I thought that but then I disagreed. South Carolina and LSU still torched our defense. South Carolina may be as close to as a perfect game to their potential as they had but one has to factor in 1) the onside kick and 2) the 8 min drive at the end. The defense was hardly on the field and still gave up 30. The biggest play they had was a 4th and goal stop where they let Shaw and Davis pick them a part right down the field. That play call for USCe on 4th and goal was also absolutely terrible but I'll credit Herrera? with the play. Basically, as we all knew later on, the offense was the key to this team. The offense won that game with TOP and obviously scoring. The defense merely slowed down the USCe onslaught kind of and the STs were a non factor.

LSU, though, was completely offense. USCe at least UGA had a few moments but outside of a few key sacks and a decent pass rush in the end the Georgia defense was completely routed. Teams that score 44 shouldn't win by 3 and truth be told when we scored that last TD I fully expected Georgia to give up another TD. Floyd/Jenkins saved that game but I won't say that Georgia played to their potential in a game that required the offense to play lights out while the defense played so very poorly.

And I guess that's my point. I am not saying Georgia wasn't very good when healthy, they absolutely were, but they did NOT play to their full potential on anything but offense. If giving up 41 to LSU and 30 to USCe was to their fullest capabilities then we are truly boned next year. But, IMO, I luckily don't think that's the case

I had a friend when I was a student that almost got me killed. By Georgia fans. He'd insult Dooley at the top of his lungs, but he'd save his loudest blasts for our QB at the time - James Jackson (the Thrilla from Camilla).

We were at home playing Clemson, and my buddy is just shouting down at the field: JAMES JACKSON - YOU'RE SHITE!!! JAMES JACKSON - YOU'RE SHITE!!!!

Finally we noticed an odd silence coming from behind us. We look back and there's about three rows of UGA fans with their arms crossed staring daggers at us. One of 'em finally says: "HEY! We're from Camilla."

So my buddy looks up at them and yells, "WELL ..... JAMES JACKSON IS SHITE!!!!!!"

I guess they figured he was too crazy to frick with, 'cause they left us alone after that.

And in my friends defense, James Jackson did cost us that game by mysteriously dropping the ball with no one around him as he was about to go into the end zone.

#8 is probably about right from a talent perspective. If Mason doesn't suck it up and Pruitt can give us a top 20 defense I think we are good enough to win the east on the back of Gurley and our other skill position players. Don't frick it up Mason.

I am the modern day equivalent of that guy

I am an arse but for all the dawg fans who wanna hate me for what I say they seem to always be the ones who leave the games early when we are getting trounced. I stay till the end letting the rage build and those shithead who sat next to us missed a thrilling end to the game. I guess the other times jack asses leave early I am the idiot who stayed to watch a blow out but whatever, gotta take the chances!

I feel like we're always ranked 8th in the preseason. It's like the default.

"This team's got the talent to be really good, but we've hopped on that bandwagon before ... yeah 8th sounds good."

I'm with you. Me and that same friend traveled to the Swamp to take our beating like men when UGA had to play there. We walked up and down the downtown area in our Dawg finery and got interviewed by several news stations because we were the only Dawg fans they could find.

We also managed to get into the stadium the night before (the turnstiles weren't locked for some stupid reason) where my friend walked out to the middle of the field and dropped trou to take a leak on the big 'F'. That's when we got caught. Fortunately security was on the wrong side of the stadium and we made our getaway.

But the next day we were the only two Dawg fans left in our section, in the rain, wearing our UGA ponchos while watching our Goff led team have a train run on 'em.

The drunk Florida student section gave us heck , but the Florida alumni came to our defense pretty heavily and dog-cussed the student section for us.
