This.

I like that enrollment is at an all time high, but the fact that it's largely attributed to a staggering influx of Texas kids is a bit unsettling.

why? there are some great high schools in DFW and it's not like it's bottom feeder students from those schools. just like in sports it's great to build academic pipelines. my co-workers daughter goes to Southlake, one of the most affluent schools in DFW and he said Arkansas is by far the most popular out of state school.

Hogs stickers with the Texas flags embossed over them were very popular when I was in school back in the early 00's. A lot of the guys from Texas in my fraternity had them on their cars. That always pissed me off.

Not the Texas pride part but putting it over the Hog. I love Dallas so more power to them for being proud of it.

I don't mean "unsettling" from an academic legitimacy standpoint; rather, I mean that you're sort of rolling the dice that those kids are just going to graduate and head right back to DFW. Not saying I blame them, but I had a ton of fraternity brothers and friends from Dallas who went straight back there the minute they graduated. Don't get me wrong, it's great to expand the alumni base, but it does nothing for the Arkansas economy.

Granted, it's not like these kids are going to move to podunk, Arkansas and set up shop. Just sort of a qualm I've always had with the influx in Texas students.

i can't believe i'm saying this but i kind of like it.

there are a lot of transplants here and if they are smart enough to move from the dark side then more power to them, imo.

it does a ton for the school if they become donors after they graduate and let's face it, there are many more high paying jobs on DFW than in NWA or LR.

Yeah, and I essentially admitted that. I was just speaking relatively about how I've seen so many go back from whence they came.

At least they are attending the school that they cheer for in sports.

I don't get the hate.

Does this make people mad, too? Same kinda thing.

I admit I'm not up to speed like I should be but hasn't it always been this way? After all I remember going to Dallas when we played in "Barnhill South".

It has, but it's been intensified with the effects of the top 10% rule. Just go to campus and/or Dickson and you'll see an insane ratio of Texas plates compared to Arkansas.

I don't know if you have met many texans, but they don't really "embrace" any non-texas culture

I certainly hear them denigrating the state at every opportunity...even though they chose it for higher education. Typical texan hypocrisy

Arkansas has had 5-10% of its enrollment from Texas for the past 30 years at least.

Recently, its getting closer to 20%. It grows a little bit with each incoming freshman class. The northern DFW burbs have been exploding the past decade.

Kids from McKinney are a full hour closer to Fayetteville than they are to Lubbock.

They're only 1:15 further from Fayetteville than they are to College Station. And there are still a lot of Texas kids who don't identify with the whole Aggie thing.

Fayetteville is way cooler than any Texas college town aside from Austin.

Ten years ago, McKinney had a pop of maybe 70k. Now its around 150k.

Frisco was about 50k, now its 130k.

Allen is about 90k. Those towns are all sending lots of kids to Fayetteville these days. I don't really care where students come from. If they are excited enough to be Razorbacks to drive up here and go to school, that's good enough for me. I know its because its TEXAS that they are from, but so are a lot of our football players, for most of our history.

I spent five years of my life in Texas, and they love their flag more than any other place in the country. But when I would go to a sports bar to watch a game, there were always other Razorbacks there, most of them who were lifelong Texans.

Instead of seeing a Texas flag plastered on a Razorback, think of it as a Razorback, plastered on a Texas flag. Getting good students from DFW doesn't hurt us, it helps. Its a good thing.

They embrace the Arkansas culture so much that they would burn and piss on their Arkansas diplomas if it meant they got on the waiting list at UT-Austin

I actually think this is a good product line. Texans are usually so quiet and humble about their origins that it is usually impossible to know they are from the Lone Star State. This shirt should allow Texans to no longer feel all alone on the Hill.
