Its a more prestigious school. You so resentful.

I almost went to UT. But I didn't, and I'm a Razorback through and through.

I like that enrollment is at an all time high, but the fact that it's largely attributed to a staggering influx of Texas kids is a bit unsettling.

Why? It will help recruiting eventually and it brings that Texas oil money into Arkansas. I thought it was pretty cool. Hope it spreads through Texas like a virus. They're already pissed the Hogs own the Cowmboys. Even more so that Jerry runs them like our football team.

Exactly. When I was at Arkansas, it was always good to have a few Texas friends so you'd have a free place to stay in case we went to the Cotton Bowl. Those folks I know are still big Razorbacks fans. None of them root for Texas.

A lot of people from down there want to go to a state school, but Texas and A&M are just HUGE schools. Lubbock has a crap reputation and its in the desert with dust storms and other ridiculous shite. I knew people from TX who never considered going to to either because they wanted a smaller school. Not everybody wants to be a face in a crowd of 50k people.

That's not why 99% of them would do it

Not really. No school could've given me what I have at UA

Whatevs... Your insecurity is showing. For whatever reason, you don't believe any kid from Texas would visit Fayetteville, fall in love with it, and want to come to school here.

That's insulting to Arkansas and Fayetteville. I live here by choice, leaving a good job in DFW before I had a good one lined up here. Its really a great town, and a great place to go to school.

Not everything Arkansas has to be so provincial. Insisting that it does just shows your inferiority complex.

I know a Dallas kid who came to school here specifically for the architecture program. Smart kid, could've gone to any school in Texas, including the private ones. His family toured the town and campus on my suggestion, found out that the program was very personal and very hands on, as well as very solid. They happen to be a little hippie-fied, so they chose to send him here rather than UT (in a giant city) or College Station (needs no explanation).

Try going to school when the teams suck. A lot of burnt orange has cropped up.

Quote from a recent UA grad from Coppell: "I'm gonna get my mom to buy me some UT gear to wear up here since we suck now"

^ I Ham can corroborate that quote is legit

4 years of experience at UA

2010-present

I literally have not met one who wouldn't jump ship for either UT or A&M given the chance

A lot of truth to this. Most Texas kids at the UofA couldn't get into UT-Austin or A&M. Doesn't mean they arent helping the university grow or contributing

My son grew up in Waco, could have gone to either UT or TAMU, graduated from Ark, and is trying to decide which law school to attend. He has been accepted to Ark and Baylor anticipates acceptance from Houston and Bama. He has made some connections that will likely cause him to stay in Arkansas.

I went to Baylor and UT southwestern medical school. My dad has his PhD from OU. Moms family has strong Baylor ties.

We are all Hog fans. The Texas influx is a good thing. And believe me, all of my family hates the longhorns.

Pure hate

We'll take your money and your women to pound town. But that's disgraceful to both the Hogs and the Lone Star flag all at the same time.

Austin is so damn overrated. Also it's sure as frick not a college town. Its the state capital and has a million people in the metro. Sleepy lil college town that lives and dies by the university for sure.

I'm a Texan that would never consider UT. Ever. I hated them long before I had ever heard of Arkansas.

A&M is too damn weird.

Fayetteville holds its own.

I agree that Austin is overrated. Its still a nice city and one that people like living in.

Fayetteville does hold its own. I've been to shitloads of college towns, and Fayetteville is a gem. SEC sports, mountains, a good downtown, laidback vibe, lots of music and patio weather.

I bristle at the idea that people think Texas kids only come here because they "can't" go to Austin or College Station. I know its not the case.

You know every kid from Texas who came to the U of A?

I never said all of them come here for that reason, but the suggestion that the top 10% rule has nothing to do with it is absolutely a shortsighted farce. Why are people so fricking defensive about this?

No, do you?

I never took the position that all of them come here because they love Fayetteville. I simply don't agree that they are all just wannabe Longhorns, "forced" to come north.

I also don't get hating Texans for being Texans even if they come here. Its not like they are making a burnt-orange hog or something. They're repping their state. Its a big state, with lots of loyalties to various schools. If I had gone out of state (accepted to UT and OU both), I would have still been an Arkansan. I would have never flown a Texas state flag. Texas the state and Texas the school are separate.

Is Knile Davis any less of a Razorback because of where he's from? Would you hate him if you saw a Texas flag sticker on his car?

Wouldn't it be cooler if instead of just a Texas flag sticker, he had a Texas flag with a Razorback on it on his car?

Its actually pretty cool to me that they do this, because I understand how proud Texans are. I'm sure when these kids go home with Texas-themed Razorback stuff, they get shite from their Longhorn pals and parents. They're representing the University, and to me that is cool.

TL;DR - I view a Razorback on a Texas flag more of a frick You towards other Texas schools than any kind of disrespect towards the University of Arkansas.

I think its funny. "I'm a Texan, but I'm a Razorback". Texans are going to fly that fricking flag regardless, simply because that's how they are. Might as well make it a Razorback one.

And one last thing, when I lived in Dallas for five years, I had an Arkansas flag sticker on my vehicle the entire time.

I fly that fricker whenever I get the chance. Before stores started making them a couple of years ago, I looked high and low for an Arkansas state flag t-shirt, because they were nowhere to be found. I paid a screen-printer to make me one custom. I love our flag and wish Arkansas people were as proud of it as Texans are of theirs.

You do realize that "hate" is the fallback word of the stupid and ill-equipped for an argument, right Skip Bayless? My fricking wife is from Texas. Hate...God god.

I love how you've utterly conflated my finding the influx of Texas kids at UA sort of unsettling with hatred and/or claiming they're all actually Longhorn fans in disguise. That's an argument bereft of intelligence and validity if I've ever seen one.

I say: gee, there are a ton of Texas kids at UA now. I wish the ratio wasn't as high and/or they'd stay in Arkansas after graduation.

You hear: DURRRRRR I HATE ALL PEOPLE FROM TEXAS AND THEY'RE ALL LONGHORN FANS AND THEY'RE NOT 'REAL' RAZORBACKS.

Thanks for injecting this board and thread with a little bit of Hogville with each post.

I love you assume that my posts in this topic are all directed at you. You agreed that it makes you sick to see an Arkansas Razorback on a Texas flag. That's silly. Forgive me for quantifying that as "hating".

I don't have that response at all.

Don't take me so personal, nancy.
