Its pretty unethical to take recruits with him.

He spends months/years telling a kid why Vanderbilt is the best place for them. Then one day says, "NAHHHH I was just kidding. Penn State is actually best."

What kind of role model is that for these young kids? What a way to show Vanderbilt his thanks for taking a chance on him when everyone thought it was a bad idea.

Sometimes recruits like the school and sometimes the coach. I don't see an issue when a coach "takes" his recruits with him.

Finebaum was being a complete douche in that interview. He basically just decides on a whim that he's either going to be cordial or a dick in an interview, so I don't take his "hard" interviews seriously at all. Especially when Franklin answered his damn questions and he re-asked them 3-4 times.

It's nasty, no doubt. Then again, the recruits these day are not dumb to believe everything that's been said to them. So, it's more like what's the big deal!

I agree with the previous poster about not seeing the problem with this.

But yes, i'd have a problem if he were trash talking auburn...but it'd be becuase i had sour grapes not becuase i expected a former coach to take a new job, say to those kids, well i'm out, but you guys stay there.

This is the way it's always been. Why is this some shock all of a sudden?

"I come to play for the school" is being PC in a lot of cases. Players often go to play for the coach, especially when an exceptionally talented coach is at a lower tiered football school.

I don't see it as unethical. He put time into recruiting those guys, not the incoming coach. If he gets them to come with him then I'm ok with it.

Ok, so Vandy ain't about academics and we've known forever that it ain't about athletics.

The question then must be what the hell is Vandy about?
