Then F-Bomb should be crapping all over Lane Kiffin and Alabama. LK literally had his assistants trying to dissuade TN recruits from going to their first class and pulling them to USC. TPOS!!!

There is nothing wrong with Franklin telling the recruits he's developed a relationship with over the years that they have a spot where his new job is. Besides Finebaum and anyone else who thinks this is some how wrong, needs to step back a minute and think about who it is they are trying to protect with all their outrage. It's pretty easy actually. They are arguing for the side that benefits the University that the coach left. My question is, Why? I don't care at all what that University thinks or feels about it because there is only one thing that matters and that is what Finebaum and the others are not thinking about. The only party that matters to me in this is the athlete. His decision is all that matters. I don't care what the university thinks. I don't care what the new incoming coach thinks. I don't even care what Franklin thinks. All I care about is what the athlete wants to do. It's his life. It's his decision. If he wants to commit to a coach, then he has that right no matter what.

And let's be honest about this. More often than not, players commit to a coach, not a university. There are exceptions for those that grew up life long fans, but otherwise, the coach matters more than the university. I honestly don't understand why people think this is somehow wrong. Until those kids sign the LOI, they have the power of choice. Not the coach leaving, not the incoming coach, not the university. I'm supposed to feel sorry for a University losing some recruits because their coach left? Why? Universities have all the leverage after that athlete signs his rights away. They don't get to force people to do things they don't want to do until they sign on the dotted line. Until that time (NSD or whenever the LOI is signed), the player gets to choose where he goes and nothing else is even relevant.

I'm not sure how many more times we'll have to address this, but I think the majority of Vandy fans have an issue with how he went about things. He strung us along (which is mostly PSU's fault, but he could have been more upfront with David Williams), and, by all appearances, he was already recruiting for PSU while employed by Vanderbilt. Those two things are the real issues. The not-so-subtle jabs and broken record spiel (seriously, his PSU pressers sound like he replaced "Penn State" with "Vanderbilt") are just annoyances.

As an aside, Finebaum cracked me up today. When talking about UT's class he sounded like someone had died. He's great entertainment.

As to his comments (as reported here) on Franky... Even a blind pig can find an acorn once in a while.
