Basketball is almost beyond repair. I feel bad for the guy that replaces Fox. He will have next to nothing to work with the first few years. Whoever it is had better steel his resolve and bust arse on the recruiting trail.

At least with basketball there's a chance for a quick fix if you hire a coach who can recruit (especially the AAU scene), all it takes is one good recruiting class to get competitive again in basketball.

Athens Academy has better basketball facilities than Stegeman provides, the school has never had financial woes in its existence, letting cash cow programs/facilities become dated and unattractive is physically irresponsible.

It's so damn frustrating because we know exactly what needs to be don't to fix this program.
1) Fire Fox and staff
2) Bring in a young coach who has Ga AAU ties and that can recruit the state
3) At least one member of his staff is a former AAU coach to develop a pipeline (like what Strickin did hiring the guy from East Cobb)
4) Redo the inside of the Steg. The outside while not appealing, is fine. All of the seats, walkways, walls, etc... Need to be completely redone.
We'll have a tournament team within 2 years if we do that.

Jesus, anything is better than the picnic pavillion we play in now.
If anything, now is the prime time to demo the Steg and build a new arena. Attendance is nearly non-existent, the tea isn't competing for shite. Just agree to host any home matches at Clarke Central's gym and spend a couple of years building something nice.

Please - its "rustic charm" and "Old World style" are major selling points during recruit visits.

Fox won't do that. His disconnect with the AAU guys is a big part of why we are where we are right now.

Fox is as good as gone. Let's just hope McGarity recognizes how essential it is that a new staff have an excellent relationship with AAU programs. New HC has to be a top notch recruiter.
