There was no one moment, no single play that will be replayed a thousand times on the sports channels, not this time.

Instead, it was an entire game. Setting aside its touchdown drive in the first two minutes, the University of Alabama never looked like the better team in the Sugar Bowl, certainly not like the team whose reputation as an unbeatable juggernaut preceded it.

Whether Alabama self-promoted its way to that reputation, or whether recent history and a media thirsting to create a dynasty did so, is a different question.

Interesting

I thought we were overrated all season TBH. I'm surprised the team did as well as it did.

So you never are quite back at Square One.

Actually his offensive line went back to square 1. People in the know saw how it was easy to exploit during the preseason, even by Alabama's own starting defense. The OL seemed to make drastic improvements during the year, but in the end, went right back where they started.

And, the defense was probably the worse one he's put together since he's been there, including his very first year at Alabama.

Pretty sure Saban himself had a lot to do with talking up this team.

This is my biggest problem with the media. Saban's strength is his ability to recruit and evaluate talent. His team is generally more talented than your team, but talent alone does not win. He got out schemed by OU. Can we now debunk the myth that Saban is unbeatable with more than 2 weeks to prepare for a game. Granted I still think Saban is best coach in college football, but he is not without flaws.

At the risk of being called a troll - I have to say that this beat down Okie put on Bama certainly takes away some of the luster of Auburn's victory over them.

I predicted this year might be another 2010. It was, but with an easier schedule.

A juggernaut of 19 year olds is doomed to fail sooner or later. That's college football.
