TAMU is a stepping stone for chancellors, provosts, presidents, etc.

Makes sense. Retire on a Texas pension then jump to a public institution in another state.

Well, I guess the worry about the new Chancellor being friendly to the athletics department (a la Babs) can be put to rest.

I personally wish Arkansas was somehow involved in this. The Flagship's presence on either side would have made the ceiling on this thread unlimited.

Wow That's an interesting move. What say you, Aggies? You liked him, right? He did some great things at A&M.

What the frick does this have to do with sports? Get your priorities in order man. Is he going to be making 1/5 of what the head coach makes? No, I didn't think so. So there

Chancellor needs to be friendly to athletics as well as being competent in actually running the university. It doesn't matter a ton, but it's better than having someone that hates athletics like Mizzou had in the 80s.

Hopefully he looks good in a gold bowtie.

Yeah. Presidents are fundraisers first. Administrators somewhere about 10th. It's a pretty splashy hire, IMO.

Well, it was critical we hire a chancellor that is a big supporter of athletics, and knows how to raise money. We've invested a lot in joining the SEC, and we can't afford some academic wonk in that position. From that standpoint, he seems like a good choice.

And is one of the biggest reasons, if not THE biggest reason, why we were able to jump to the SEC
