Biggest hire in SEC History. He is going to make sure Missouri is a winner and let the provost handle the academics. I for one bow to our black and gold overlords.

Biggest hire in SEC history was Saban to LSU. Without that, LSU is as irrelevant as Ole Miss.

Telling you guys, this guy is going to raise money at Mizzou at an unheralded level.

Look at what Texas A&M is about to do to Kyle Field. This guy parlayed an SEC move and one player into that. Imagine what he can do with an SEC move and an SEC Championship in year 2.

I mean... maybe? A&M has a lot of built in revenue Mizzou couldn't really come close to matching, and the Athletic Director is probably the biggest part of athletic fundraising. Your engineering school will most likely get a massive revamp, though.

So supposedly the roles are reversed and Mizzou Prez = Aggie Chancellor and A&M President = Mizzou Chancellor.

Confirm/Deny?

Can't confirm or deny. Deaton was pretty good though, a bit of a wet blanket, but good.

I know he's supposed go to work for some federal agency under an appointment from President Obama pretty soon if he'snot already.

ETA: apparently he was supposed to actually hang around as chancellor emeritus and do something with the university's international development. So maybe it's a similar situation to what happened with Loftin at A&M. Brady did step down on his own vs. being forced out, though.

Interesting. Any sort of big things going on at Mizzou education wise? A&M is going through this 25 by 25 thing which could be a massive success or a massive failure, but since Missouri S&T is sort of y'all engineering realm, I can't really see massive expansion like we are doing.

I'm not in Columbia and my only real connections are through friendships with university faculty and staff, so I'll let someone better connected give a more accurate answer.

I've heard there's a portion of the university that's not happy with the falling academic standards the expansion Mizzou is experiencing has caused but not sure what they're doing to combat it, if anything.

rumors i have heard, is that this was Perrys power play, forcing him into retiring.

Perry wants one of the top gigs at aTm, when he's done in office, and this has been orchestrated by him and his peeps.

The "Perry will be A&M President" rumor is as old as "Saban to Texas"

Neither will happen, ever...

True story. A few years back Mizzou offered a 3 star recruit who was considering Mizzou. Later Mack Brown and Texas offered the kid and immediately Rivals gave him a 4th star, it happens.

I tend to agree, but I could very likely see him fitting in to the Chancellor role.
