Texas regent, former regent talked to Nick Saban's agent about replacing Mack Brown https://apne.ws/19i8EfV (@jimvertuno) #Tide #Longhorns

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that a University of Texas regent and a former regent spoke with Alabama coach Nick Saban's agent about Saban coaching the Longhorns if Mack Brown retired.

The meeting took place a few days after Alabama won the national championship in January. Two days later, Brown was approached by the former regent to consider retiring. Brown, who had just finished his 15th season, said he did not want to quit and the matter was dropped.

Regent Wallace Hall says he spoke by telephone with Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, a few days after the Jan. 7 BCS championship game. Tom Hicks, a former regent, also was on the call with Sexton.

"Hey just wondering if Saban's interested."
"He's not."
"Ok, have any suggestions?"
"Yes..."

I can't wait for the 10 new threads about this every day until Texas hires a new coach. It's going to be awesome.

Of course they're going to be talking to him. I guarantee they try to throw the bank at him. I seriously doubt he goes. He's the head of a dynasty and over 60 years old. Nobody in their right mind would leave that job.

That being said, if anybody would leave that job it would be Saban. The man is never happy and I think he has a secret desire to be the coach that has titles at three different schools.

He won't leave though.

Why would the regent approach Mack about retiring if that meeting with Saban didn't go over well?

He gone.

It will not be certain Saban is going to Texas until Saban comes out and says he's not going to Texas.

Its a shame that Nick Saban is having to resort to talking with Texas to get paid more.
The man has won 3 out of 4 NC, give him the 10 million a year he deserves.
