This big ole terd is causing problems.

MU's medical staff has got to have one of the best track records anywhere.

As a Cardinals fan I know how bad it can be. (If you don't know, the Cards are notoriously bad when it comes to injuries).

There is such a long list of guys that have had surgery or been treated at MU that have recovered 100%.

Then Gill comes a long and bad mouths the 'plan'. This definitely get's into the hearts and minds of recruits. What a shite head. If he wasn't happy, if it wasn't a right fit, then just leave.

I don't even like looking at his picture.. with his chin turned up all cocky, and diamonds in his ears. What a F'er.

What really happened is his foot was bothering him, and he saw all these other freshman DL tearing it up and he was like 'I'm not gonna be the man here'. I can promise/guess that the amount of talented freshman DL played a part in his departure. But the big man would not admit that.

Mizzou is falling apart at the seams. This season is shaping up to be a disaster

I feel like this is the last stand of an army.

They have the ppl right now to get 8-9 wins. Which would rejuvenate everything.

But if this group doesn't get it done, bad times are coming.

Frank "I love Mizzou!" Cusamano did a piece on this. Of course the angle was to bash Mizzou and make Harneet seem like this angelic like victim and Mizzou as the terrible step parent that refused to treat his injury.

frick Harneet and frick Frank Cusamano.

I must have missed something. Was he badmouthing Mizzou's medical staff today or something?

He's left the team, it's over, good wishes to the young man. I'm more focused on the players we have in this freshman class, like Augusta, Crawford, Logan and Brake. Gill isn't getting any more of my concern.

Yeah, he said he lost faith in Mizzou's plan for his rehabilitation. Which is a definitely a negative jab.

The media then ran with it as they typically do. They sided with Gill, instead of pointing out the impeccable track record of the MU medical staff.

I could care less about Gill, he's not getting my concern. Just pointing out that this guy caused negative news for Mizzou in the media.

Today he did, but tomorrow it may turn out they did the right thing. There won't be a media story, but it is what it is.

If anything, I think it helps out with a lot of these recruits we tend to like to pursue that really dig the whole "family atmosphere" thing Coach Pinkel's developed.

"Yeah, his injury was a bit more severe than we thought and we wanted him to undertake some more intensive treatments and therapy, and he wasn't into it. We're not going to put a half hurt student athlete on the field for our own gain, these kids are more important than that."

I don't know what you mean by this..

We know MU did the right thing, and we know there won't be a story that highlights it.

He bad mouthed a reputable training staff, and the media furthered the negativity by painting a picture that Kilo described earlier in this thread.

I was speaking as the general non-sports message board/media scrotum lapping public. They don't have it built into them to know Mizzou did the right thing.

Maybe there will be something set out there saying it was the right thing to do, I doubt it, but maybe.

If it does come out, hopefully it doesn't come from Mizzou. Not really interested in bashing any kid for acting out after shite doesn't work out.

The real problem is the media guys with the Mizzou chip, but we already know that. It really is crazy that it's an issue now with the Missouri sports media, especially out of an STL guy. It's not like bashing on Mizzou is going to get him a ton of Illini clicks. I could see it from a KC guy.

Yeah, I'd really like to know the motive for the negativity from the Post Dispatch. I don't get it. I guess in general (as you can see at ESPN) that negative and controversial news stories reign supreme.

That's the media in general from what I've seen. The only motivation I could see, and I haven't read the story, was him thinking it would go national. Of course it won't though, because Mizzou isn't a good national story due to the fact that so many in the state take the opportunity to shite on Mizzou and hamstring the team in the major cities.

It's a magic circle.

Or he could just be a dumb 18 year old kid who didn't want to admit he wimped out. His foot hurt, and he saw the competition, and realized D1 was really tough, and decided Mizzou wasn't a good "fit", then decided to be critical of the medical rehab/training plan to deflect from fears.

I pointed out in another thread that yes, this is a bad injury. BUT, we all know how attitude comes into play. Barrett Jones, the Rams rookie center, played most of last season at Alabama with this same injury. He had surgery 2 days after the BCSCG. Then rehabbed like crazy and is ready for practice ahead of schedule with the Rams. If Mizzou was expecting greater toughness than Gill was prepared for, this is for the best.

Seems as though a lot of these Metro STL recruits don't pan out.

For every Jeremy Maclin there are 3 Harneet Gills.

I'm not going to get upset if we don't thoroughly recruit STL anymore. It's never really been a hotbed of talent, and a lot of these dudes seem less ready to compete than those from the western side of the state.

Just an observation.

However, the bs that gets spewed forth from a lot of the STL media has been happening for years, and it makes zero sense.

Semo...

I think it was Gill that wanted to be more aggressive than the MU training staff.

Well... youth football in STL is way bigger now than it was just 5-10 years ago. It's the states largest city and football is now being played more than former favorites like soccer and baseball. MU needs STL.

And East STL is definitely producing, you want that you need STL too. One of the best players in the country for '15 is in ESTL.

STL has give MU 2 first round pics in just the last few years.

Monte Ball just came from here..

We need the whole state if we're going to have any real shot. These kids are supposed to be bred with the love of Mizzou in them already. That should make recruiting a lot easier. Once the program really gets rolling (and I think it will) the steps can be made to step up the development.

Right now we're a mid range program in a mid range state playing in the best football conference in the country. Any moves we're going to make absolutely need to be started at home, and getting these fricks in the media in line should be one of the first steps in making that happen.

I don't think it was the post, unless I missed something. Cusamano is on TV and radio and my guess is from the timing of the post, it was probably something said during his radio show. I think Matter wrote a more positive article/blog.
