Why did the Cotton Bowl pick A&M over Lsu? Because of stupid nicknames.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around this. Lsu beat A&M, they had the same record, and Lsu is supposed to be a superior program.

So I'm just trying to figure out why Lsu didn't get the better bowl. We all know their fans travel well so it can't be that. Plus you would think people in Dallas would want an out of state team so fans would spend more money on hotels.

Lsu is ranked higher and has had more recent success.
Is it just because Lsu isn't a very exciting team? Without Mathieu they don't have a single player with a household nickname. And therein lies the crux. A&M has Johnny Football, with the hottest nickname in America. If Te'O had a similar nickname to compare to Manziel's, say Blanka for instance, he would have won the Heisman.

Is this the direction we want football to go? Where once storied programs get passed over in favor of cheese ball monikers? I think not.

Choose one reason:

1) because Arkansas was "unavailable" for the game

2) Because LSU next regular season game is in JerryWorld.

This is probably it. Jerry just doesn't want to make too much money.

Chic-fil-a's social stances didn't play a factor in bowl selection and negotiations?

I'm sure the people at Chick-Fil-A could have overlooked their prejudice to get a nickname like that to play in their bowl. Problem was Cotton Bowl got to pick first.

Slive had it worked out to where Aggy was going to turn down the Cotton bowl if Texas was selected from the Big12 side, because Aggy was scared.

Don't underestimate the politics that go on, it isn't a simple as picking first and picking who you want sometimes, remember us getting selected in '07 for the CB largely because it was Frank's final year as AD and Pat Summerall was going to call the game?

Makes sense.

I also think the fact that the Sugar Bowl got the Champions Bowl may have been a factor. The Cotton Bowl made a very strong bid for that so Slive threw them a bone for their disappointment.

we are scared? I doubt it. the team we are actually playing beat the whorns by 40 or so points. Deloss Dodds didn't want to see another embarrassing loss.

So you're saying the Chick-Fil-A bowl refused to even entertain the idea of hosting the Aggies? So they picked the next best available option. I see.

This in combination with A&M having a good season, a very well hyped(deservedly so) player, and it's not like A&M won't sell out the stadium.
