I've been to a bunch SEC venues (Florida, Ole Miss, Tuscaloosa, LSU, Starkville, and USC). I would like to visit them all eventually.

I am considering a road trip to Auburn this year for the LSU game.

What do you think?

I'd recommend waiting till '14. Auburn currently has a ton of construction going on. The stuff they've already done looks great, but by '14, they should have all the major construction around the stadium complete. I was amazed at how different the campus looked when I was there for the Spring game...students have it so much better than we did a decade ago.

Auburn is a great trip, and a very easily accessible city assuming you will fly into Atlanta. Auburn is roughly 100 miles away, but you gain an hour crossing over into Alabama.

Only negative is there is not much in the way of hotels so you better start booking something soon or find a DD to drive afterwards. Depending on the weather, and if you like golf, you could easily pair up a few rounds at Grand National.

The LSU/AU is one of the most entertaining series in the league, many times the favored team struggles or loses (last years game was unusual...the performance gap was simply too wide). Though to be honest, the 2014 game may be a better bet. Either way, hope you have a good trip and a rewarding game at the end of it.

I drove past Auburn last year and all I saw was a huge billboard of Cam Newton.

I was there for the Cam game in 2010 and the atmosphere was electric. Of course for a game of that magnitude with two unbeatens in the top 5 or so, most places would feel that way I guess. But the people were all very nice (except for the few jerks in the stands who cheered when JL got hurt), the campus is great and it's a fun gameday atmosphere.

Spot on.

For all the hype about the "loveliest village on the plains", I don't get it. I have never been to Jordan-Hare where trash was not piled up everywhere around the stadium. Just nasty.

And frankly, the flowerbeds on campus are nice enough but most of the academic buildings look like they were designed by some government architect in the early 1960's. To me, the Auburn campus looks like a slightly bigger Southern Miss with better flowers.

It is to watch Auburn ruin LSU's run. So buy your tickets and come on down.

I've been to Auburn close to 15 times. It's fun but you definitely need to stay close. If you plan on drinking heavily get a hotel and do it now. There are only a few within walking distance. Not much of a bar scene to speak of but bars after games are typically too crowded to be fun anyway. It's worth the trip imo.

I guess we're just making shite up today, huh? You think Tuscaloosa is clean? Parts of this place look like Memphis without the Blues.
