Maybe the heisman finalist on his team? You know....possibly the most impactful player on defense in this history of LSU football......

Tyler Wilson would instantly improve any team in the SEC by a lot. He is a field general game manager who will also win you a games. Our defense was shite the first half of the aTm game. TW put us on his back and proceeded to break mallett's single game record for yards by about 100 yds.

I would take Reid over Matthieu but there's certainly a debate. And not just involving those two, Jarvis Jones is a solid pick.

Anyone who says TM7 is better than Reud us silly. Dude is a straight beast and is actually all class. Tm7 is a clown and system player. Reid is scary good and will probably be an all pro player in the NFL. Athletic freak with smarts and instincts. Tm7 has instincts but has poor character and us lacking in the athletic dept.

As a true freshman in 2010, Mathieu played in all 13 games with one start.

He finished the season with 59 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions.

He was the Outstanding Defensive Player of the 2011 Cotton Bowl Classic after he recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, one sack and one pass breakup.

At the end of the 2011 regular season, Mathieu had 71 total tackles (54 solo and 17 assists), 1.5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles (2 returned for a touchdown), and 2 interceptions.

On special teams, Mathieu had 26 punt returns for 420 yards, with 2 returned for a touchdown.

Just 25 games into his career, Mathieu has already shattered the LSU record and tied the Southeastern Conference record with 12 forced fumbles.

His six forced fumbles this season matched his own single-season record set last year (from LSUsports.net).

I'd take Reid over Mathieu too. Mathieu's our biggest play maker but I still think Eric Reid is LSU's best defensive player. I admired his efforts in the January game, almost made another big play at the goalline. Plus the guy can lay the wood (see Vick Ballard). I like his attitude much more than Mathieu's too.

How the frick can corners and nickels be classified as "system players"? I bet you can't name many that have disrupted as many plays as he has.

No its not. You are pretty dumb if you really believe that.

Wow, seriously? Yeah, TM7 makes all of his plays because of the system he plays in. lol.

maybe, but maybe not?

How does he lack character? Because he failed a drug test? Big deal. And again, you are dumb if you truly believe that TM7 is "lacking in the athletic department". The things he is able to do with his lacking size is attributed to his insane athleticism. Did you really go to Vandy? Wow.
