As an Auburn fan, I see our secondary just not showing any signs of improvement. Thorpe is as good now as he was two years ago and we really haven't brought in any other solid corners to take over.

My question for Bama is this, with the top corner the past two years out of high school, do you see any improvement over the course of this year? Milliner looked rough the other day against LSU and Kirkpatrick has struggled.

So what do you guys think? Have they improved this year?

We lost all our DB's and one suspension.

This is their first year to start. Milliner was in high school a year ago.

Lester, P. Jones, Kirkpatrick, Milliner, Menzie are all first year players.

You are going to have some falling off once you lose two NFL starters. Veteran in Justin Woodall and key contributors in Ali Sharrief and Marquis Johnson.

I know who all you lost, I was simply asking if you thought they have shown any improvement over the course of the year. I honestly thought that Auburn would have trouble with Bama because I thought their secondary would be in solid shape by this time in the year.

Mathieu, Claiborne, Simon are all 1st year players for LSU and they have excelled in their 1st year.

Phelon Jones is a retreaded LSU product. He left because he saw the writting on the wall. He is a senior and learned under malveto

i would have said i thought they are improving after i watched the tenn game but now im not so sure. it seems like they all cant get on the same page at the same time. saban's schemes are difficult to master and its obvious it aint happening in these guys first year starting.

They also play a different defensive style.

There has been some improvement. Miliner has just given up a few big plays this year, which is unlike our D, but he is a true frosh. I think he has definitely improved IMO.

Our secondary has gotten better throughout the year. Well, Demond Washington has at least. They aren't atrocious, just bad now.

Milliner seems improved just purely coverage wise but he still doesn't always seem to know the playbook. Which is frustrating.

After the job that Saban did with Marquis Johnson I have no doubts about his ability to coach corners. It just is going to take awhile for them to really get it, it took Marquis awhile.

They're better tacklers than they were in game one. They recognize things faster now. They still get out of position, but we're talking about a lot of first year players. Mark Barron has a lot on his shoulders as the elder statesman of this group.

i remember before the season, people were saying that Bama would struggle with DB's and o and d line.
you loss a lot good guys there, it shows.

and next year you lose not a great QB but one who generally won't lose a game for you.. ask the Gators if a QB makes a difference.

We heard the same thing after Wilson graduated. McCarron doesn't have the leadership qualities of McElroy, at least not yet, but he'll end up being a better QB.

Statistically our pass D is better than our run D, and both are solid. They just are not dominant like last year.

The truth is everyone knew this defense would not dominate, but expected the offense to make up for it. However, the offense is worse than last year despite returning nearly everyone. Auburn's gameplan last year exposed us. Stack the box and force McElroy to play like a good QB and you have a great shot to win the game.

There's a difference between losing a quarterback and losing a Tim Tebow or a Colt McCoy or a Cam Newton. When a player like either one of those leaves for the NFL you essentially lose your entire offense.

BS. The players have to make plays, no matter the system. LSU's seconadary has the potential to be better without PP next year.

No. It's not BS. Different defensive philosophies have players in different positions doing different things. There's a reason why Saban's 3-4 scheme is considered to be one of the most complicated in all of college football.
