Watching the DD show right now, how many years do the Vols give him to turn this train wreck around?

What do the Vols expect this year, next, and the one after? Where does he need to be to keep his job?

Try asking the same questions about Georgia. Get back to me when you have some answers.

Without Sanctions, his leash will be similar to Rich Rod's. With sanctions, he might need to be committed. They are just so depleted in every facet.

For me and UGA I give CMR 2 years without question. There are a lot of UGA fans who want him gone yesterday. They forget how bad UGA sucked prior to him showing up IMO.

5-7 would be fine this year. 4-8 he would begin feeling the heat, as Tennessee has never had an 8 loss season and it would piss off the fans.

6-7 wins next year is what is acceptable.

Anything less than 9-10 wins the next year and he's gone.

For this year, the big thing is not letting it all go to hell after the wretched month of October is over. We'll likely be 2-6, and we need to make sure we don't make that 3-9 or something like that. We should be able to win a few at the end of the year. It's hard to determine a set number of wins as far as the next few years are concerned. I'd say he better win 9 in 2012 to be safe. He may be okay with 8-4, but I'm not so sure.

I'd be surprised if we get any major sanctions.

That is what makes me think they might be good in the next few years. I think they had 15 true freshmen in their 2 deep for the 1st game. Those young kids are getting a lot of play early in their careers.

They played the frick out of Oregon in the 1st half, the 2nd half not so much LOL

I watched the 1st half and was thinking "great, UGA is gonna get the shite kicked out of them by UT"....

No one believes we will. Not a single publication or service covering the team. There's been nothing we've done that warrant serious sanctions.

19 in the first game. 23 yesterday.

Sounds about right. I could see him being gone at 5-7 next year.

To be fair, Oregon generally sucks on the road and starts slowly.

Even next year, I don't think so. We can't afford the chaos yet.

Agreed.

Even if we do go 5-7, I expect to see improvement each week with this young team.

I saw NO improvement in any aspect of the game against UGA. However, we were walking into a hornet's nest much like a top 10 Cal team did when they came to Knoxville a few years back.

We have no chance to beat Bama or SC, but we still need to fight.

IF we can get to 6 wins and a bowl game this year, then I think Dooley will have done a hell of a job. It's going to be tough to keep this team up after an 0-for October.

He's going to have to step it up in recruiting, too. We can't compete with the UF's, UGA's, Bammers, and LSU's of the conference with 2 and 3 star kids.

That's one thing about Kiffin, he was a hell of a recruiter.

You're probably right, but I could still see him being fired if we get blown out a lot and our wins are ugly against the lower quality opponents. Additionally, the way he's recruiting will probably affect how much time he gets.

But such an epic douche bag. I really hated the thought of him being in charge of a good UT team, it would have been unbearable.

DD is a class act at least, I hope he does well there, just not against UGA

I guarantee you wouldn't be posting this if UT beat UGA yesterday, not the other way around. I know opposing fans say this when they know we don't have a prayer at the moment.
Hell, just look at LSU fans. UT 'almost' beat them and they made multiple threads talking crap about UT.

well at least Kiffin blew out UGA. I think that's the 'main' reason you guys hated him.

No I had the same opinion of Dooley prior to the game. If we would have lost, I would not have disliked the guy's character. I heard him on 680 the fan this week talking about the game, the host was Buck Belue, the QB from his Dad's 1980 team. He talked about SEC programs with respect, not like some punk who was born on 3rd base and had convinced himself he hit a triple ala Lane Kiffin.

Does anyone expect Tennessee to turn this around right away. Fulmer struggling several years before he was let go, the Kiffen debacle and now Dooley who looks iffy right now should cause concern for UT fans. The ability to nationally recruit is hampered IMO if you go a period of 3-4 years of being down. Add to the fact their instate base is limited UT may have a tougher road back than some think! Today's kids have short memories and tradition doesn't carry teams as far as it used to.
