Who is the most prestigous football program since 2002?

Had a guy tell me "USC has been a better program than any SEC program since 2002. Fact."
Got to thinking about it and I had to give the nod to Florida with LSU in a close second. Figured some LSU homers could give me some good ammunition.

boise st and utah can be considered too. utah is the only team to go undefeated twice in the bcs era.

No shite you would say Utah. I would too if I lost to them. Most likely Florida or maybe LSU

Well if Florida were to win the 2009 BCSCG, they would be the team of the decade. Same with LSU.

USC, LSU, and Florida, not necessarily in that order.
any one you choose would have legitimate arguments behind it. That said, and I hate to say it, but with USC's dominance of the Pac10 I'd probably give the edge to USC over LSU and Florida.

How? They have one legitimate NC and one claimed NC? UF and LSU both have 2 legits

See the undefeated Utah comment.
Utah Dominated the MWC. The jump from SEC to Pac10 is similar to the jump from Pac 10 to MWC.
Fight me.

That would certainly be the argument in favor of LSU or Florida, and I'm not saying I disagree.
But whether we like it or not and whether it is part of the BCS or not, USC did win the AP national title in 2003, so while they may not have 2 "BCS Titles" they do in fact have 2 "national titles."
If national titles are equal, then I think you go to the second best category ... conference championships, and USC wins out.
That said, the argument against conference titles is the fact that USC certainly has an easier road to the conference title than do Florida and LSU.

I would have to give the nod to LSU. USC to me is a close 3rd, but only 1 NC in that crap conference versus LSU and UF's 2 NC's in the top conference. Only reason I say LSU over UF is the record heads up between them, the overall record, and the bowl record all favors LSU. Of course, UF moves ahead of them after this year on my list.

Yeah, this year is definitely the tie-breaker IMO between the three schools.
If UF, USC or LSU wins the title this year, then you've got to give the nod to that particular team as the "team of the decade."

Two BCS titles in that time frame, but LSU fans are "homers".

I can buy that argument, but my stance is that a Pac 10 championship is like winning the Minor Leagues, it's irrelevant. Since the SEC is the top league I would rate 3 SEC championships over 7 Pac-10 championships.
No, I already stated I think you guys have an argument as the top team. I just figured that you as fans of your team would have much more information to offer up than I could come up with. Hence "homers"

Depends on criteria.
If you were to compare the SOS of USC, Florida, LSU, Boise State, Utah, Oklahoma, tOSU, Texas, and maybe Georgia since 2002 (or 2000 for that matter), I don't think USC's would compare favorably to anybody's but Boise State and Utah.
Not that USC's SOS would be significantly lower than the rest, but it would be lower, on average. That should be one criterium.
Other critera should be: # of victories, Conference record, # of NCs, # of NC Game Appearances, # of Conference Championships, # of Conf CG appearances, # of BCS bowl appearances, BCS Bowl records, # of overall bowl games and wins, etc.
I would say, overall, since 2002:
Florida
USC
LSU
Texas
OU
tOSU
BSU
Utah
Georgia
And since 2000:
Florida
LSU
USC
Texas
tOSU
OU
BSU
Georgia
Utah

USC is definitely the cupcake eating champion of this decade, I'll concede that.

Probably because Southern Cal was 5-7 in 2000 and 6-6 with a Las Vegas Bowl loss to Utah in 2001.
