From what I hear Ole Miss is pretty conservative. I really appreciate that considering most schools are liberal safe havens.

Also, going to Oxford really isn't too bad of a drive from where I live in Missouri.

There's a pretty healthy contingent of liberal hipsters on campus. It's who I hung out with .

LOL Maybe I am wrong.

Speaking of hipsters. I think Lana Del Ray is getting a little too mainstream for me. West coast was playing on local radio here in MO and it blew my mind.

Where do you live in Missouri? I'm originally from the semo area.

The Rolla area. It's a 6 hour road trip to Oxford.

When I was younger I remember playing several baseball tournaments in the Cape area. I haven't been out that way in a long time though. To me it always seemed like the farther south you go in MO the nicer the people are.

Ole Miss is pretty conservative, but probably not as conservative as you think. Lots of liberal folks in town, and I'm one of them. Ole Miss is very tradition rich from Greek life to the grove to Hotty Toddy! and I'm very glad you've decided to bandwagon. I hope you get a chance to come down here and check it out soon, but don't be surprised if your preconceived notions about Ole Miss' "values" aren't realistic. That said, I hope you fall in love with Ole Miss. There's no greater feeling.

Hey! I would like to think I'm more loyal than a bandwagon fan. I'm a t-shirt fan.

Thanks, it's really growing on me and in my mind I think it is one of the true gems in this country. Hopefully my first trip down there only confirms my thoughts.

Not in my day (90s), we need to get those tree huggers out of there.

Ole Miss will always be center-right on the political spectrum, however I would not call it conservative. All the communists go to the People's University down South.

If you want to find liberals/hippies/hipsters/townies in Oxford, they are easy to find. If you want to hang out with conservatives, they are everywhere. Most, if not all, are somewhat educated. That's what makes Oxford a great city in Mississippi.
