Hello everyone.

My first time posting on the board. Just thought I would point out that this is getting more and more coverage.

Do you think this will spiral out of control?

That's quite the fair and balanced news source you've provided us with.

My intention wasn't to provide this as an unbiased and balanced news source. I posted the link because it has a view and comment counter on the page, in an attempt to show that this topic is beginning to get a lot of attention.

I agree it has gotten a lot of attention. I wish it didn't. Oh well.

Can we care about fricking Boise's tight quivering butthole instead?

I've met several boise fans who either
A) didn't know they opened against an SEC team
B) didn't know they opened in ATL
C) gave up on their football team
D) know they play Ole Miss, but know they will get railed by Dr. Bo

I don't think this statute would hold up in court.

According to this law, if we had a big ole statue of Hitler in the middle of campus, we couldn't take it down. If we had an Andrew Jackson avenue (which we probably do) then we wouldn't be able to change the name. The supreme court is conservative leaning, but also federalist. If this went that far (which would be stupid) It would probably go 6-3 with Kennedy and Roberts joining the dems.

Mississippi Code 55-15-81 provides that streets named in honor of military units, organizations or events may not be renamed. This would certainly include a street serving a Confederate cemetery, named in memory of the men interred therein.

This is pending the Civil War is to be considered a "Revolutionary War".

....which it wouldn't be.

IRL, I've actually distanced myself from nearly all politically-charged activities, protests, etc. because I'd like to be gainfully employed in two years.

But, seriously, it's just a matter of time before we do away with "Rebels."

Colonel Reb was taken away in 2003, the Black Bear was started in 2011, and "Ole Miss" was restricted to solely athletic activities in 2014.

I'd say we'll lose "Rebels" by 2024. Just a guess.

This is what happens when radicals weasel their way into position of power. There is nothing offensive about any of this. But these guys will do anything in their power to convince others that it is. If you disagree with them they will paint you as a far right racist.

Exactly.

Instead of "I think you're wrong and we disagree, let's figure out a solution" things have become "I think you're wrong and we disagree, you're out of touch with society and harbor evil thoughts. Just wait until the media hears of this."

That's why it's important that we stand up for what is right. These people have the nerve to pretend that they speak for the majority when the exact opposite is the case. They are counting on us to give up.

who is to determine "what is right"? How exactly do you know what the majority speaks of? Did you poll an adequate amount of Ole Miss fans? Or are you coming to the conclusion based on the loudest, complaining fans. Because...you know....that isn't an adequate representation of people on any issue.

and btw...I admittedly didn't see "war between the states". My bad. The outrage in this ordeal is so ludicrous to me, that it's hard for me to take it seriously.
