We need to stop thinking that there’s some way to “fix” the current NIL situation. That ship sailed a long time ago.

Also, that’s not really much of an advantage considering someone can make money off of their name, image, and likeness at any point. NIL wasn’t created for college sports. It’s always been around. They just finally realized that the NCAA cannot legally stop someone from making money off of their NIL.

I agree with you. That toothpaste ain't going back in the tube.

This part is a complete sham though. They are not getting paid for their NIL; they are getting paid to play football at X University so it is just legal payments now rather than illegal payments before. How many companies are out there paying NIL and using the players picture in ads? I've seen that LSU gymnast advertising tights (and thank you for that) but haven't seen any others.

I've been telling people for years....all the players(the one's I knew, at least) wanted was just a little extra in their stipend to help with clothes, groceries, essentials for their kids, etc. But fans/alumni as well as big names like fricking Dabo Sweeney lost their shite at the idea.

And of course he was all talk. His arse is still coaching.

If there's provable evidence, then that is illegal. A player can take that NIL money and jet to a different school. It isn't a binding contract.

I've seen judkins post merch from his NIL deal on his instagram.

Bryce Young was in a number of Nissan and Dr. Pepper commercials last season.

Hmmmm. This sounds a little bit like employment to me.

Ok, good example but what about the other 84 Bama players? Maybe one or two were in commercials but the vast majority are getting paid to play at the school.

I've heard players doing commercials on radio, ads and interviews in podcasts, and have seen a couple of businesses have players signing memorabilia at their store. That's really all it takes for it to become legit.

Yes, I agree with you. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make against me.

It happens all the time. And states are indirectly asking for it through prominent college football coaches.

Not true. Lost of states prohibit high school athletes from receiving NIL compensation.

Is Sunbelt Billy on the hot seat?

I've wondered why I haven't seen on him on more "coaches on the hotseat" rankings. He was 6-7 last year and it's not a stretch that they could lose eight games this year.

Recruiting success or not, Florida hasn't shown much patience with coaches lately. Mcelwain and Mullen were fired after one losing season (they didn't even get through the whole season, either)

Not against you; just saying players aren't really getting paid for their NIL, which is not worth much unless you are a handful of guys at the very top. NIL is just the same old scheme only out in the open and legal now.

I agree they are not getting paid for their name, image, and likeness. They're getting paid their services. It's employment.

Yeah which is why they need to stick with Napier and hope he can build something. Cycling bad hires isn't good biz.

I don’t think he’s a bad hire. He’s doing exactly what Meyer did when he got there and is changing the culture. It takes more than 2 years to do that. If he’s given 3-4 years, he’ll have them turned around.

I agree with you. Meyer sure did it quickly though, and that's what Gata expects.

I don’t think Meyer’s methods of cleaning out the shite are allowed anymore

I enjoyed both SEC-related Netflix documentaries. I was hoping to see more about the "dark side" of the Florida program, though, more of an objective take rather than one focusing on all the good things.

Same here but I doubt Meyer and Tebow would have agreed to be on air had they gone deep into that.

The best of the three Untold documentaries I have watched is undoubtedly the Manti Te'o flick.
