I guess I was living under a rock that day because I'm not joking. I know of them... Just didnt know I saw them that night.

That song makes me want to kill myself. Pop country is a slap in the face to country musicians everywhere.

Just saying "country" is the problem

Country encompasses everything from Taylor Swift (arguably) to Jamey Johnson...

Cruise would be a slap in the face to outlaw country yes, but to pop-country, not so much

Same thing with rock... Elvis and Led Zeppelin are COMPLETELY different, both considered rock. Elvis would probably hate Zeppelin

I'm a big fan of the old country a la Hank, Merle, Waylon, Keen, etc.

But I also like Luke Bryan (except a few) and Zac Brown after living in Georgia and going to their shows when there were about 20 people in attendance. Yeah, I'm that guy, deal with it.

This x10000000

It is a different type of country than your traditional "country" really all there is to it.

And again who buys the most songs on iTunes? Prolly ages like 16-20? They aren't gonna buy traditional music. People like FGL and Luke Bryan are KILLING it right now.

Not a bad list aside from Paisley. The fact that all he signs about is the South despite being raised in West Virginia bugs me to no end. I get a "ur not 1 of us!!!1" type of feeling when I hear him sing that stuff.

As for "country", I like:

Lucero (they're more blues-Rock now, though)
Cory Branan (he would probably be considered folk rock?)
Drag The River
Drive-By Truckers (southern rock?)
Austin Lucas
Johnny Cash
William Elliot Whitmore
Justin Townes Earle

The only thing I listen to that I'd consider "pop country" is Charlie Worsham, and that's only because we graduated high school together.

I pretty much stay off the radio other than Sirius when I'm in the vehicle that has it. Anything on the regular radio is usually shite. Complete shite.

Ha you must not know much about West Virginia

I like Paisley because he is a complete artist. Plays instruments, singer/songwriter

And you could go to one of his concerts and him play for two hours on nothing but hits

What's hilarious is I'm sure it was 90% state fans at that concert. I'm surprised they didn't boo him off the stage

Seen him three times in concert... The first time I saw him he got on stage... Said hello I'm Jamey Johnson...

Two hours later he said, thanks for all the support for this song... (In Color)

Then he was like... This is the part of the show where I play whatever the hell I want... You can leave if you want to, I don't care... And proceeded to cover and sing the shite out of all the classics

Four hour show... Was AMAZING... And it's funny cause he doesn't talk between songs... One song to the next not giving a shite

In color is the shite. Also like Rebelicious.

Gonna finally see George Strait live this May. Can't wait.

I saw him at a casino here in Greenville and he didn't want to be here but was contractually obligated so he played 1 hour and it was over. It was still awesome.
