What is it about evening/night that makes a stadium just look so much better
ETA: Also keep in mind we're yet to even turn on any of the jumbotrons and as you mentioned one of the light poles, assuming no electrical problems the field is going to be bright as frick

Beat me to this!
Not a fan of lights on press boxes but who really cares, right?

The lights on the boxes look fine if they're on. I'm not crazy about their daytime appearance

I wonder how much thought goes into lights and angles o. The field. Like passes being lost in the light and if there is thought put into that before installing them.

Yes they Calculate the angles and where the light beams will land. They use a lazer to pinpoint where the light will land and adjust accordingly.
-source interview with Ross Bjork on RebelYell
They were going to put up some lights that would b in the 5-7 million, but with future expansion of press box. It wouldn't have been worth the money. So the lighting company came back with a 2.5-2.8 million estimate for changing bulbs and adding the ones we see now.
Also the sound system was around 5 million.
Forget what he said about total for the new boards and wire work, might have been included in sound system number.

That's cool. Good info.

I think the next major phase of construction is going to be both sideline boxes where everyone has referred to the press box only. I think they will do an integrated box with upper deck and expand above the number of sideline boxes and club seats that they have today. I don't think they will match the SEZ but will complement it. I'm fine with that, having both sidelines match and both end zones match. If I had to guess on timing, I would say 3-5 years to start. We have to get through a couple of seasons where we are with capacity now and make sure that we don't hit a slump and have a big empty stadium. In the meantime, they will finish the North plaza outside the stadium and renovate the sideline concourses. They are badly in need of it, especially the west concourse.

The clarity isn't the best considering I took a screenshot of Ole Miss Pix's periscope, but it gives you an idea of the size of the SEZ video boards.

Those "smaller" video boards are much larger than they looked in initial drawings. They are nice.

I was surprised by their size honestly

Stadium looks great! I'm excited for the opener to see all of the changes.

This may have been discussed already but I remember hearing the red roof buildings behind the NEZ were donations and because of that they couldn't be torn down.

We won't see the stadium at night until probably the UGA game.

It's the original field house complex. Years ago, they renovated it with money from FedEx as an academic center for athletes.

Are people sitting in the north endzone actually supposed to see these corner screens? They look like they are facing the opposite sidelines.

If you are in the north end zone you will be able to see the side boards. Much better than having to turn around to see the one big board. There shouldn't be a seat in the stadium that can view at least one board.

You'll be able to see them fine.
