I halfway expect us to name the Sam Houston State defensive line coach to the position this week.

Maybe I should throw my hat in the ring. I have never played nor coached DL before but I can scream at the TV that they are over pursuing and getting out of their rush lanes with the best of y'all

If I understand correctly, if he'd met all incentives with us and if he meets all incentives with Georgia, the $$$ is around the same, but his base salary is $50k less with the possibility of making $75k less at Georgia than he would've with us. Going to be interesting to see who we get

Just don't hire anyone. Just let the d-line run stunts the whole game. They do it about 70% of the time any way.

Why not hire the coach from Second Chance U?

What's up fellas?

A guy on BOL is saying y'all are close to hiring former Alabama LBer Freddie Roach as your new DL coach.

I can't validate his "insider" status, but it is out there.

We were able to convince ourselves that Tray Scott was a good hire so I'm sure this guy will do just fine

He seems a bit green but talented. Not sure how he is on the recruiting front but stints at EMCC, South Alabama, and Bama won't hurt.

I think so. A lot of us wanted him on our staff, but we don't have anywhere to put him.

All of our staff attrition has been on the offensive side of the ball.

I'm pretty okay with the hire actually. He may not have a ton of experience but he is employed by Nick Saban so he must be doing something right.

He should be a pretty good recruiter if nothing else right off of the bat.

So the real question is, who hires him in March?

I'm ok with the hire. Less experience than Scott, but comes with a Saban stamp. If he can croot and keep a fire lit underneath the DL, we couldn't have asked for much more this late in the game. Most of our options were likewise unproven, or came from unimpressive programs, or didn't fit what Freeze wants from a crootin' season standpoint, so I'm not sure who would've been both realstic and a better option/fit. I expect Crime Dog to try to mold the DL into his wants and desires first and foremost, so a sense long as Roach is the guy who helps Crime Dog get the line back to where it was (and where it should be), we hired the right guy

Roach coached dline at EMCC and Murray State, coached defensive ends and LB at South Alabama. I'm ok with the hire, we need all the help we can get with coaching LB any input he has should be welcome. Just guessing but I would think he is a pretty good recruiter as well. I'm all for anyone connected to the development of bamas dline and LB being on our staff.
