I'm at the point where I'm tired of making excuses for this administration. The NCAA wants Freeze. At what point do we just fire him and get a new coach? Would Chip Kelly take 5 mill a year to come coach Shea Patterson and this gang of WRs? No matter who 5 mill can get you a good HC that can win and recruit without all this sloppy ish that keeps happening.

Understandable. I would think it would be harder for Freeze and co. to lie or get away with lying about the sanctions to future coaches on the front end.

Well it's a free ride for a new coach at Baylor. They had nothing to do with the program issues. I'm not even sure the NCAA gets involved in what is more of a legal matter. I don't like it but they probably stay away.

Uhh, there a plenty of explanations, like more money, more responsibility, bigger program, easier recruiting etc. Don't forget Scott wasn't at UNC very long either. He better be careful about jumping ship too many times. His loyalty will be in question.

Why would you want to fire the most successful Ole Miss head football coach in half a century, one who wouldn't leave us and the whispers of the NCAA behind for Florida, to try to hire a guy who would leave quicker than Bobby Petrino once opportunity knocked? We should maybe adopt this approach with our coordinators and position coaches, seeing that's how a number of Tier 1 programs (Bama, tOSU, Michigan, etc.) operate, but to take that approach with the head of the program would potentially turn us into the SEC's Arkansas State, in that were merely a leapfrog gig

o me this screams coaches are finding out OM is about to get the worst penalty a college school has seen in years and they are deciding to jump ship.

He left UNC for this job just 5 weeks ago. If something new had popped up Freeze would not have called him out like he did.

Freeze didn't leave for Florida because we paid him more, plus the expectations here are lower than they are at UF. Plus who would want to live in Gainesville???

It's easier to win a title at Florida, especially right now, and the state has more talent than the entire Mid-South and state of Mississippi combined damn near every year. The Florida and Georgia jobs are almost certainly the best in the conference. McElwain is already making in excess of $4 mil., and he breached that threshold more quickly than Freeze did. Money wasn't the issue, but taking Jill and the kids to Gainesville just might've been haha

Damn how fickle some can be. Last year at this time people were worshipping at the church of freeze. One bad season, "fire Wommack", he does. Upgrades the DC with a coach that has NFL experience and can recruit. Hires LSU's best recruiter for the state of Texas with years of LB experience. "Fire Werner" he does. Brings in the FCS coordinator of the year to run the offense, then hires a local, well traveled, great recruiter in Peeler to coach WR.

Hires a DLine coach with little experience and he jumps to take a job at a more respected football program and then we get our panties in a bunch and want to fire him? LAUGHABLE!!!

Name me the last coach that had ole miss in the top 20 of recruiting 4 years in a row (top 10 twice) and took ole miss to back to back new years 6 bowls... I will sit back and wait on the answer...

"Crashing" One bad season, complete staff over turn (which everyone was in favor of), NCAA cloud and still pull a top thirty class. Is the NCAA going to give us the death penalty? HAHA It's not like we pulled a SMU or MIAMI here. Yes there will be sanctions but geez guys have some prospective here. Remember how Penn State was done 3 or 4 years ago? "Wouldn't be able to return after all their drama". They played in the damn rose bowl. All this the sky is falling crap is for the birds.

Even if we have a bowl ban this year we can get back to recruiting like normal. Pull in a top 20 class. Then everyone will be pushing Shae as a Heisman finalist and challenging for the west.

This take has got to be a remnant of Nutt Battering Syndrome. Freeze has had one bad year after two of the best years in modern program history, but, unlike Nutt, players actually still seem to listen to him and he attempted to recruit even with the deck stacked against us. Yeah, the class wasn't great, but it could've been so, so much worse.

Plus, who in their right mind that's worth even half a damn would want to come to an Ole Miss program that could be neutered by the NCAA during Shea's window? Who would we replace Freeze with that actually cares about the University and would successfully guide us out of the NCAA cloud? We absolutely should not fire Freeze until we have to fire Freeze imo. If the team sucks again this year and we look lost by the Egg Bowl again, then yeah, the writing's likely on the wall, but Freeze hasn't gone full Nutt yet, and I fully believe he's got the ability to prove that the past 10 months weren't the beginning of the end. Or he could WAOM it and we'll fire him and we'll be stuck trying to figure shite out in the wilderness again, but why want that now? There's a ledge in the distance, maybe, but it's way to early to lean off it

SECs Arkansas st??? Are you kidding me. Hugh Freeze last season had the 10th highest salary in all of college football! People arent hopping to pay cuts. Freeze isn't some anomaly that couldn't be reproduced. OM is a national brand now.

So where are we currently. We have academic fraud, we have proof of a recruits step dad receiving funds from a booster no matter how small it is, we have another "booster" providing rides and buying impermissible benefits to recruits, we are coming off a horrible season where we burned our qb RS year to go 1-2. We fired our DC, lost our DL, WR coach and fired the OC. We hired a new WR and DL coach who both stayed a combined month or so and bounced for other opportunities. We hired LSU worst on the field coach but a great recruiter. We hired a FCS OC with no experience coaching D1 even though we had all the resources to hire whoever. We lost the best player to ever step on a HS field in MS since Dupree. We got skull drug and showed no life against our rival MSU. We ended up with a average at best recruiting class and we still have no sign of a end to a 5 year investigation...

This ship is sinking and the fans act like all is well... I'm sure I'll get a you need to relax. The question is why haven't we moved on?

How much D1 experience did Freeze have before becoming the HC?

Everyone seemed pretty on board with burning the red shirt after the A&M game. Always easy to second guess decisions after you know the outcome.
