Thomasz Gielo is going to be great for us. I know it's just a warm up game but he looks smooth. Having a guy his size (6'9 forward) that can score from behind the arc will be huge. He shot 40% from behind the arc last year at liberty.

OXFORD, Miss. - Senior Stefan Moody scored a game-high 25 points and junior Sebastian Saiz posted a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards, as Ole Miss cruised past Clayton State 103-87 in an exhibition game Thursday night. The Rebels jumped out to a quick 14-2 just four minutes into the game and never looked back, as they held a 51-33 halftime lead. Ole Miss shot 46.0 percent from the floor and 40.8 percent from beyond the arc. "We have the SEC leading returning scorer on one wing in Moody," said Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy. "We have a guy in (Sebastian Saiz) that missed some shots around the basket, but can be a double-double guy for us like he was tonight." Moody scored 12 in the first half and added 13 more in the second half in just 22 minutes of game action. He knocked down 6-of-8 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3, and 10-of-11 from the line. Saiz pulled down 11 offensive boards to help the Rebels to a 38-31 advantage on the glass. Junior college transfer Sam Finley added 21 off the bench, including 10-of-12 from the line as Ole Miss made 36-of-44 from the charity stipe. Senior transfer Tomasz Gielo added 15 points and hit 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Ole Miss opens the 2015-16 campaign next Friday at Tad Smith Coliseum against Northwestern State at 6 p.m. For ticket information go to OleMissHoops.com or call the Ole Miss Ticket Office at 1-888-REB-TKTS (732-8587).

We have no one inside the help at the rim or get putback buckets other than Saiz. Finley, Escobar and Moody will score a lot of points though.

Hopefully with Howland's success in recruiting and our new gym, Kennedy will realize if he wants to compete and keep his job, he is going to have to attract better talent. His only sales pitch to date has been if you are an undersized shooting guard and want to take 30+ shots/game, I'll let you do it. Don't get me wrong, Chris Warren, Marshall, and Moody were/are great players, but State, Bama, and LSU are all drastically improving in basketball and we need to try and keep up.

Are you implying that Kennedy hasn't been trying to get good players?

We are on the lower rung of the Nike poll. I don't know if he will ever get three top 100 players again like he did with Terrico, Terrance, and Murphy. Basketball is a shady business and State benefits from being one of the few who stuck by Adidas.

From the state fans I've talked to Adidas and the Adidas aau travel teams are just funneling players to state. Because they are one of the few Adidas teams out there. And because of the howland connection.

Aau and high school basketball is like the Wild Wild West . Because the coaches of these teams can take donations. These donation cover travel and apparel... And a coach or whomever could easily be a third party middle man.

If we want in on that we have to get the non high school basketball league connects that msu and lsu have attained.

Nike doesn't even sale Ole Miss basketball jerseys. I doubt they funnel anyone to us.
