Not one of the big 5, and not a sport, but I was on ESPN three times in HS for cheerleading championships. The highest we placed was 4th. In college, a middle school squad I coached placed 4th.

What is it with the city of Memphis and cheerleading? I used to see tons of squads from that area on tv.

FB: I dominated a right tackle and guard in a game and constantly caused tackles for losses when LBs would clean up.

Freshman year baseball was a triple play with me turning two of the 3 outs.. Or inside the park homerun on a no hitter the same year.. There were tons of errors on that play

It's always been big here. UCA/Varsity was founded here too. I have run in to multiple women at gymnastics who were on my HS squad. We all have our kids getting ready just in case they want to be one.

In sa, band is more important than cheerleading.

You act like being surrounded by cheerleaders is a bad thing....

I'm just saying there's a large amount of competition cheerleading squads from the Memphis area.

When I was in school you had the football cheerleaders and the dance teams who were mostly filled with good looking girls, but for some reason our basketball cheerleaders were the rejects of the bunch.

They had some big cheer competition at my high school after we had basketball practice. I may have stuck around an hour or so after practice.

It was completely opposite for me .
There isn't even a routine/halftime show/original cheer for fb, but there is all if that for basketball. My school demographics are mostly black though, with an average gpa of around 2. I'm the only white guy, and by a large margin, on the basketball team

Competitive cheerleading as a whole continues to grow. My freshman year, National were at Sea World, moved to MGM's Indiana Jones theater the next. By the time end of my coaching run in college it had moved to the Wide World of Sports.

It's also a lot of fun to do.

the dance teams were always loaded with talent. the football cheerleaders were always skanky with a few babes sprinkled in at my school.

Didnt aTm get dancing girls for basketball games last year?

They arent as good as the Longhorn girls in chaps in the end zone but they arent bad.

Baseball-my first and longest home run when I was 12. It was my only tape measure shot 460+ feet.

Football-high school my freshman year playing center and keeping senior Eugene Lockhart who was playing middle linebacker in a 6-3 in check for an entire game. He had no tackles and never touched our QB.

Track-high school finishing 2nd at the area meet in the shot.

Golf-about 10 years ago got a double eagle on a par 5. Hit a 3 wood fade over the trees and it bounced twice hit the green and rolled in.

Rodeo-won the NTRA as a heeler

Drag racing-made several low 6 second passes
