You are not alone in your frustration. Those types are probably pricks in the military too. These guys are a lot like the ones who leave high school and become Police Officers so they can compensate for whatever Shiite they dealt with in school.

I had run ins with several who liked to throw their rank around over stupid Shiite when they weren't getting their way and yes they were the first to use their service as a reason to be obnoxious around civilians. Its embarrassing

Holy shite, I just went back and read the OP again. I don't ever think I've seen a grown male use "lol" so many times.

This ... but let's not let that get in the way of a good chance at military and religion bashing with some of these fricktards.

We had a few guys like that at my last command. They were always posting stuff on Facebook about how stupid civilians are, self-glorifying military memes, obnoxiously calling out anybody or anything that they felt was somehow disrespecting the service.

You were never in command of anything except that little worm you call a peen ... which you probably abuse on a daily basis.

Know how I know how full of shite you are?

quote:

They were also the type to wear their dress uniforms out on the town and fully expect random strangers to pick up the tab for their food and drinks. They were usually spotted wearing military pride t-shirts and black military looking Oakleys when not in uniform.

Oh Good Lord ... what sort of unit did you serve-in? No one is allowed off base in their dress greens for normal social activities, date nights, bar scenes, etc. Not around any post I know of. Matter of fact there were strict rules governing the wearing of uniforms off-duty and off-post that any civilian reading this thread is welcome to google just to see how full of shite you are.

quote:

When they become veterans, I expect it becomes much worse, since they have to find other ways of letting people know about their military service, now that they can't wear uniforms.

WTF? "When they" become veterans.

You're a fricking poser of the first degree ... and you know it. You're fricking busted.

quote:

Just so you know, these guys are a small minority who usually get ridiculed by the other guys in the division.

A "Division" is the size of a small town ... usually 15,000 or more troops who knows no one other or beyond those in their immediate Company ... and you would know that if you had ever served. Sure, there are always one or two dipshits in a Company or Platoon who are as the OP described, but none of them would be ridiculed by an entire Battalion, or Regiment, or Brigade even ... gosh dammit it you are so full of absolute bravo sierra. Hell, most troops in 1st Platoon don't know half the troops in Weapons Platoon for that matter ... and you're claiming certain shitheads are labeled throughout an entire Division ... and you're claiming to be a former commander of some unit somewhere?

I don't have to tell you this - but you're the worst kind of POS, you know that right?

You want me to ask you a few common questions or sling a few military terms at you ... just to prove how full of shite you are? Lemme know when you have time to do an instant back and forth in a thread - I'll even give you five minutes between answers to allow you to try jumping out of your arse to try and find the answers online somewhere.

quote:

More often than not, they suck at their job as well. It sucks for civilians though, since you can't really tell them to frick off and quit being a flaming fhaggot like other military guys can (since you would be immediately labeled a "liberal veteran-hater" and find yourself the subject of a furious "let's make them famous" Facebook post. Sorry bro, dunno what to tell you other than that they are just assholes with a little more leverage than the normal types. Deal with it and move on I guess.

There are assholes in every walk of life ... including the military. I suspect you are a washed-out weekend warrior a-hole yourself as a matter of fact. The worst kind. The kind that couldn't cut it so he's rifted, or worse, and he ends-up out here spewing generalist garbage about the military just like the shite you posted above.

You were in "command" my arse.

Just for giggles and grins ... and let's keep it large, shall we?

What were you in command of exactly?

Be general if you'd like ... what years, what Division? What Brigade? What Battalion or Regiment?

Enlighten us with a couple of military schools you may have attended slick.

OP sounds like the type of woman that always projects all men as dirtbags just because one man cheated on her. I get frustrated when I see vets posting the macho military memes all the time as well though. However, I'm a combat vet as well and I know the same soldiers that tell great "stories" and share patriotic memes all the time were the PX hero's and the frick ups of the unit. So again, not all military men are the type to demand respect like in the OP.

Exactly - well stated.

With regard to the OP's bullshite stereotyping let's be honest here ... when it comes to being assholes to, and disrespectful of, the service industry and blue collar workers, et al., no one surpasses nuevo rich techies or intellectuals or government bureaucrats.

Then, hell, we might as well start passing judgement on millennials attitudes towards their elders, or elders attitudes toward millennials, or skinny fricks toward fat fricks or city people towards country people or northerners towards southerners, or lefties versus righties, etc., etc., etc.

Hell, then let's stereotype all atheists and claim they will stiff you on work you do for them if you happen to mention you believe in God or ask them questions about why they don't. Or how about gays ... especially the male gays, because we all know how picky they are with their tastes and if you're not perfect they'll scream discrimination and screw you over. And then there are the butch-type lesbians ... they live to screw-over straight men.

Or how about how American leaguers look down on National leaguers ... the bastards with their fricking designated hitters always claiming they started baseball, they were the originals, yada yada.

To start a thread like this claiming that not paying a bill or trying to get out of paying a bill is rampant among Christians or military vets is such bullshite ... it goes beyond the normal Internet bullshite.

You broke your own rules. Should never have taken him on.
I hope you get the $1500.00 back. But if not a lesson learned.

Almost all veterans I know are extremely uncomfortable being recognized or talking about being in the military except around other veterans

This is exactly how I feel. Even though I'm grateful, I don't feel what I do is anymore important than my garbage man or anyone with a respectable job. Sometimes I respond with a "you know I don't this for free, right".

My wife gets mad at me when I don't ask for "military discount". Not to try and get one if they don't, but if they do...hey 15% is 15%

And this ladies and gentlemen is why only a damn fool would ever attempt to call themselves a veteran when they are not. Well done scrooster!

I had two very close friends from high school join the military. One joined the Marine Corps as an infantryman and the other went into the Navy to become a nuclear technician person.

The one in the marines is a dick and has bad personality traits. He talks about the marines and how they're superior and how people shouldn't be entitled to anything unless they join the military.

The one in the navy is shy and very humble about his military service. He doesn't mention it much and is always working quietly towards his goals.

Was it the military that affected who they were? No. The Marine didn't have good enough grades to go to college and was always a dick to people. The sailor could've got into almost any college he wanted to but he wanted to join the armed forces to have structure in his life.

Being a member of the armed forces in any capacity doesn't change your personality. You choose to be who you are and it's wrong to stereotype every armed forces member into one personality type.

Just my two cents. I almost joined the USAF out of HS but my parents wanted to me to go to college first.
