9/11 was his fault
Agree on Washington; he wrote the original "Presidential How To" book.
Least is Bush, Jr tied with Obama & Carter & Wilson & LBJ; so much epic failure with all of them.

I doubt he answers you. Probably just parroting what he hears the loony left saying.

August 21, 1858 - first debate with Stephen Douglas
Of course, that was two years before the Civil war, but even during the war he discussed the idea of colonization more than a few times - and it wasn't the western states. It was Liberia, the Caribbean, or Central America.

Anybody who says Lincoln was the best and Bush II was the worst makes me .

Immediately after stating that, he said that it was not realistic.
"But a moment's reflection would convince me, that whatever of high hope...execution is impossible."
Lincoln did discuss colonization multiple times, but it obviously never happened.

In the times in which we live in now, it's easy to play armchair QB (not a knock against you) with Lincoln. You have to realize the times in which he lived and the general attitude towards this topic. He believed slavery was abhorrent enough he went to war to end it, and ultimately lost his life.
I don't think there is any doubt he believed in the equality of people.

I think the prevailing thinking at the time even with Lincoln, was not the equality of the races, but the tyranny of slavery was evil.

Seriously? I can understand some dislike of Bush, but Obama has made a complete shite show of his presidency.
If there were a twin bill of fricked up presidents, these two would be a tag team. The up side is I no longer hate Clinton as bad as I did. He was awesome compared to Obama. (His evil twat psychopath wife, is another story.)

Good point. Nonetheless, he felt strong enough about ending slavery he went to war over it and paid the biggest price, his life.
History records him as one of our great presidents, and rightfully so.

agree. i grew up with a Rush L listening dad and thought Clinton was the devil growing up. In retrospect, bad person, pretty decent president. I credit a lot of that to a Newt led congress, but good legislation (and a lack of bad legislation) were important in the 90's.

Couldn't agree more.
Funny that the best and the worst are both from Tennessee yeah?

You've made mention of this a couple of times, but I don't think it's true.
Lincoln really, truly, didn't care about the evils of slavery like the leading abolitionists of the day did. He was content with all free, or all slave, and made mention of that. Slavery was certainly the catalyst for the war, but it was hardly the cause.
Lincoln didn't give a flying damn about the constitution, the due process of law, or the consent of the governed. He cared about keeping the United States united. I agree that it's important to view him through the lens of the time, and unification (the German peoples in particular) and colonization was a major theme on the international stage at that time. Lincoln was a byproduct of that, and ultimately succeeded in subduing a rebellion or conquering/colonizing a sovereign nation, depending on your historical view.
Lincoln paid the price for that unification with his life. Slavery was not as large a concern as unification was, IMHO.

Absolutely agree. Clinton and Newt didn't like each other a whole heckuva lot, but they recognized that they needed to work together in order to fulfill their duties. They were pros, just like Reagan and O'Neill.
Congress and the Executive no longer work together, because the Executive has grown to the point where it no longer feels it needs the Legislative. Obama and Boehner are amateurs.

Let's just say our historical view is different.
But seem to agree with modern times.

This could be said of every president since, well, since I've been alive. There's always a group of people that thinks the current president is the worst.
Can't judge Obama's presidency until after he's done. Then, like clockwork, the next president will be the new "worst" president.
