I think gas should be no more than $2.50 per gallon, so I'm not loving them, but they are better than $3.00+. We are still overpaying for gas in this country.

There are many factors bring the price of oil down. More production, lower demand in Europe and China, but I think one of the biggest reasons is that with the slowing China and European economies and the fact the the FOMC is flooding the mkt with dollars the value of the dollar is increasing. Oil is denominated in $'s so, cheaper oil.

2.95 is the cheapest in Jefferson County I've seen so far here. Rode up to St. Clair County yesterday and it was 2.75. Fricking taxes and JeffCo.

Funny thing is this seems to always happen in the weeks leading up to elections.

Heaven forbid our oil companies only make a couple billion dollars instead of 5 billion

You're full of shite if you think American producers are losing money in oil right now. Consumption will increase as the prices drop so as long as oil prices per barrel are higher than the overhead costs to produce a barrel they'll be perfectly fine.

Are those profits or stock performance because the dip in the last week would make the stock numbers look worse than necessarily the truth.

Stock prices which is of course flawed but if you don't think that this is hurting oil companies you're full of shite.

Now whether or not you should care that it's hurting oil companies is a different issue. I'm not saying that we should, I'm just saying that it is hurting them and we'll see it when they release their numbers.
