He's easily the most bi-partisan GOP candidate. His time in Florida was, from what I hear, extremely efficient and didn't waste his time being an idiot (see Rick Perry). This tells me all I need to know

quote:

Jeb Bush had been leading our previous few polls in North Carolina. But he continues to struggle with conservatives. Among 'very conservative' Republicans, only 37% see him favorably to 44% who have a negative opinion of him and only 7% of those voters support him for the nomination, putting him in 7th place in the GOP field.

This is an election the GOP can win with a moderate... the left is veering too left. If a Tea-partier ends up winning the nomination, GOP has no chance

Problem is... today's moderate was the 90's far left. There's very very few actual real conservatives anymore.

I hate these as my political beliefs usually aren't a simple yes or no answer, and I think it further validates the current political climate. I am fairly libertarian. I believe in freedom of contract. I absolutely believe in collective bargaining, and I absolutely believe that if your union overleverages and asks too much, your union should be free to fail. Reagan was the President of a Union. Unions have become extremely corrupt, but in theory they protect the worker and are a good thing. I think that's the truest libertarian stance to take as that is freedom of contract, but in today's political climate... union = Dem/populist. But whatever. Lemme take this test.

This test is just a big info grab for the pols anyway. Just to see where the public generally stands in issues. It's obviously imperfect, because policy questions aren't ever yes or no.

Rubio = 85%
Rand Paul = 83%
Scott Walker = 79%

But I know if I retook it, I could get Bernie Sanders too if I answered things a certain way. I am for regulation in a lot of areas.

Yeah true. I'm surprised it didn't ask me to donate to some pledge. I feel like I've been asked that before at this site.

Rubio 80%
Paul 79%
Cruz 72%
Walker 68%

I've been trying to narrow it down between Paul, Waker, and Rubio for some time. I'd be very unhappy with this country if Cruz ever won.

He was okay--and I'm left-of-center. Did much to improve school performance via testing and school accountability. Obviously more moderate, centrist approach than most Republicans care for, so there's that against him. Will be more moderate on immigration, at least if Florida experience hold true--Florida is beholden to immigrant labor in agriculture and construction, and there isn't a C of C or business organization in the state that will speak out Trump-style against immigrant labor. I imagine Bush will try to speak both sides of this issue to leave voters confused, and perhaps ultimately uninterested, in his true intentions.
