I'd like to end up down on the Gulf coast.. Gulf Shores, Orange Beach or on the bay.. Daphne, Fairhope, Point Clear area. Things are so much more laid back down there, than this area.

Actually considering selling my biz and starting over down there. Been made an offer with living accomodations that would make it much easier starting. Just hard to make a change and walk away from 12 yrs of getting this one going though.

Plus, how can you not like dinners with this view, with $3 well drinks? And live music..

Magnolia Springs, Pointe Clear or Fairhope for me, too.

Where was that pic taken? Obviously overlooking Mobile Bay, but where?

Kind of related, have you seen the documentary "American Amizon"? It's about the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. It's excellent.

How touristy is that area down there? I've never been to Gulf Shores, had a co - worker transfer down who loves it. Looks like it'd be a good place to take the mrs for a week and getaway, but I'd love to do it in the offseason, especially when the humidity isn't so dammed oppressive. It's running about 78% here this week..miserable.

Fairhope seems like an amazing city to retire too. I'll never forget visiting it and trying their brewery. I would love stay here.

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are awesome

They both get pretty crowded and "touristy" during your busy summer holidays like Memorial Day and 4th of July. Spring Break too.

I LOVE going down there in September, less crowded, not as hot. All day at the beach then watch some CFB early evening...perfect day.

We went down to the Beach during September a few times, was really nice.

Not crowded, a little cooler, but water temperature warm & CFB with Gulf Seafood/View: SWEET.

No worries.

As for retirement, I personally can't do the mountains. I spent far too much time freezing my balls off in hostile climates while in the military. Trying my best to get transferred to South America when the kids all are out of the house so hope to be living out my life on a nice beach n a country that has decent healthcare.

Hate the heat, and 30 degrees here isn't bad. 68 degrees in summer is heavenly.

I'd just want a second place to move to in June, July and August...
Either around Yosemite/bass lake, Malibu, or Pebble Beach 16 mile area...

Probably a house on Lake Travis, just due to proximity to family. But I could definitely see Tennessee or the Carolinas.
