no friggin way. He used like half of Texas. Dallas? You think Dallas is the South? I'm not talking about southern united states or has some southern type culture in the city, I'm talking about THE SOUTH. Dallas ain't it. Houston ain't it.

Sandman's map nailed it. Except there are actually multiple hells: Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, etc, etc, etc

Geographically, it's not that different than South La. It's too big of a city though, and being on the border tips it over to not "southern". Only Atlanta can really get away with being a major city and still being southern.

Make a joke about Sherman and fire and watch the ATL folks get all pissy.

It's right outside Athens, Texas....that's where the pine curtain begins.

Where is the northern border of the south? I know some who swear that Maryland is the south. Obviously they are wrong

East Texas. The Longview/Tyler area is about as far west as I'm willing to call the "south".

Too much Missouri and Oklahoma. Slightly too much Tejas.

The transition from trees and hills to dusty plains happens somewhere around Tulsa.

I don't really think of Oklahoma as being "the South". Oklahoma, like Texas, is kind of its own thing.

Lots of injun names and most of the state is dry plains. The whole Native American thing in Oklahoma really makes it different from any southern state.
