I drive by this on my way to and from school. Still see a lot of confederate flags around KC and CoMo. Mt. Mora cemetery in St. Joseph Missouri is also a very large confederate cemetery

It follows the Ohio River until it gets to Summit, KY and then follows a straight line from Summit through 10 miles north of Richmond, VA to the Atlantic.

We can argue all day on whether or not Texas and Virginia should be considered southern states. But one thing we can all agree on is that Missouri is definitely not a southern state.

Doesn't matter. We're now part of the SEC, and we're not going anywhere. You'll come to love us in time.

As a Virginian it's weird that people don't think it's Southern.

FWIW, we consider NoVa part of DC and want nothing to do with those Yankees.

The South West part of WVA is way more Southern than NoVa. The North of WV is basically PA.

IMO, one would enter the Southern states once they cross the Northern border of TN. Also, I see KY for what it is, a border state but one with a Southern feel. VA is Southern to me. Mizzou, yanks and Texas is Texas

The Confederate States of America is what I've always considered to be the South although it's became somewhat blurred in the last 50 years.

That's just my opinion. I don't know a whole lot about Missouri. In my mind, I've always felt like we were the final outpost of the south. Kansas isn't far away, but its definitely not the South.

We had our share of civil war battles in this region. Western Arkansas also has a cowboy/frontier history that isn't "deep south". That said, if any part of Texas is considered the South, then all of Arkansas sure as hell is the South, in spite of a western flavor on the edge.

Little Rock is nothing if not a true Southern city. Fort Smith is southern, but also western.

NWA is new, but its still southern by nature, if not as southern as the Deep South.

Accents vary quite a bit in Arkansas, with northern and western sounding a lot more like Texas, while eastern Arkansans have a Mississippi, deep south accent.

I will put it this way. St. Louis is not part of the South, but part of Missouri id.
