Domino's. Pizza Hut gives me the runs.

I'm still a big fan of Pasquale's

Anthony's Pizza for sure.

I honestly like the hunts brothers pizza you can find at gas stations

Dominoes went from shitty to pretty good when they redid their recipe a few years ago. Pizza Hut has awesome wings but mediocre pizza (dont like their sauce).
There isnt a chain that can even come close to the best hole in the wall joint in a given town, though. Pizza is one of those things, much like Italian, that just cant be mastered using the big chain method. Burgers and Mexican can, but not pizza.

What chain has figured out good Burgers?

First, the difference between a great burger and an average burger isnt nearly as great as between great and average pizza.
Second, Five Guys has routinely won awards that typically are award to mom and pop joints for best burger. Several more traditional chain restaurants (not fast food joints) have awesome burgers.

Ah yeah ok. I was thinking fast food which I can't stand. You're right there are some better quality chains that serve burgers.

I thought this very same thing until I moved here.
You cannot reproduce great Mexican cuisine and it simply doesn't exist in the same manner as it does down here.

Agreed, but I think most Americans are referring to Tex-Mex when they say Mexican food. Two totally different cuisines.

this reminds me of something.
i worked for pizza hut in my HS and early college days. for a very short time they had a chicago pizza which was absolutely amazing. best thing they ever had. anybody remember that? Just like the bigfoot, a pizza they never should have gotten rid of.

I don't like any of them that much, and eat at local places. If I'm at home, I like the Kroger brand ultra thin crust pepperoni better than any of the national chains.
ETA: I love Papa Murphy's.

I was referring to Tex-Mex, not authentic Mexican food. Most Mexicans have no idea what half the things we call Mexican food even are.

I don't remember the Chicago style pizza at Pizza Hut. I've always liked Pizza Hut, partly because my grandfather LOVED it and always took us there when we were kids. I think I ate Pizza Hut before every Bama basketball game I went to from 85-89. I always liked their pan pizza, but you have to eat it there. Something happens to it to make it nasty as soon as it leaves the premises.

Best pizza I ever had was in a restaurant in Naples, Italy. I would have fricked that pizza.
Stateside - there was a place in Dallas called Grimaldi's that had some amazing brick oven pizzas. It was a favorite of mine and my wife's while living in the area.
Does Jet's count as a national chain? They're not around here, but there was one in Fort Worth and I know they're a chain. If I can choose them, I do. They have the best deep dish of any chain.

Yep. If we get pizza here it's Pizza Grocery or Corner Slice.
I'll grab the Little Caesar's $5 lunch combo if I'm out and just craving some pizza, though.

This is a pretty true statement. Don't mention Taco Bell, you may get lynched.

after working there for 4 years. yes. nothing beats it fresh out of the oven. the above logic applies doubly to stuffed crust. you gotta eat that thing withing 5 minutes of leaving the oven and having the garlic spray applied to the crust to truly get the amazingness of it.
working there was fun because we got to play with a lot of different recipes.
breakfast was awesome. saturdays, somebody would bring a dozen eggs and we'd make a lot of awesome breakfast pizzas.

I really like Pizza Grocery. My husband graduated HS with the owner. He's an OM grad too.

Well if y'all talk to him you can tell him it quickly became our favorite restaurant in town when we moved here. We go there every chance we get.
